What is the internal item labeled Rip Cord?
A shopper
on Dec 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a thread that runs the entire length of the cable. When you cut the outer sheath, you pull on the thread to tear through the outer sheath until you have enough length of the inner wires exposed. You want to expose plenty of length of the inner wires and cut them off below the point where you originally cut through the outer sheath. This way, if you accidentally nick through one of the inner wires when cutting the outer sheath, you will be cutting that section off.

This is a strip used to split the outer jacket and also to add strength to the cable assembly.

What does Riser-Rated mean?
A shopper
on Jan 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. CMR, sometimes called Riser rating, is usually required for network cables that will span one or more floors. CMR cables are treated and tested to prevent a fire from travelling along the cable itself, insuring that the cable will not allow a fire to quickly span several floors quickly. More information can be found here: http://support.monoprice.com/link/portal/41053/41056/Article/1027/What-are-the-fire-safety-ratings-that-your-cables-are-available-in

Great quality for great price
Not all cables are created equal. After working with 3 different spools side by side it is clear these cables are well made, conform to the standards expected by all and are reliable. From the rip cord which is a braided solid strand and doesnt fall apart into pieces to the properly colored solid core strands of copper this is quality.

Get what you pay for
I bought 1000ft of this wire and a 1000ft of a competitor that was $20 more. This wire was several pounds heavier. It all did not pull as easy but wasn't bad. Biggest issue I had with this is it kept knotting up; the other brand never did.

Good stuff!
This was my first cat 6 cable I have ever bought. It was for my new home which I plan on adding additional lines for PoE devices and extra ports on the wall.
Overall, the build and quality are great and what I expected. Shipping was timely and the discounted price was the major factor to why I bought these.

Solid wire for residential runs. Don?t cheap out with Amazon stuff that?s more expensive and worse
Not the most qualified because I?ve never run Ethernet before, but I?ve had no issues with it.
Solid copper, much better than CCA (copper classes aluminum) or stranded cable for in wall runs. Cat6 is great for residential (can even get 10Gbps on most runs). CMR rated and UL certified is ideal for indoor residential runs. At $85 for a 1000? I can?t recommend it enough, TrueCable is $170 for the same specs and length off Amazon.
There was a voluntary recall on some Monoprice Cat6 cable in 2019/2020, but from my research it only affects commercial buildings. It also seems they did well remedying the recall. Further I would imagine they really really tested this stuff throughly as it succeeds a recall. Definitely imagine they want to avoid that again.

1000? pullout spool box next to Knipex 160mm cutters and segment of wire.

Great length of cable
Great cable to use. I have purchased a bunch of these throughout the years for various installs. They are a little bit larger than other brands and do tangle a bit. However, that will happen with any cable. I have pinched a few runs but it didn't damage the cable.
