We have the Cat^ STP 550MHz, but we're having a hard time finding RJ45 connectors that fit and ether con connectors that can handle the thickness of this cable. Any suggestions?

Look for AWG23 rated rj45 connectors, they are bigger;
side note, this cable isn't very thick compared to most, so not 100% sure why your connectors aren't working, maybe double check your terminating the cable correctly :D

I noticed that the orange and orange-white pairs are twisted at a tighter configuration than the other wires. Is there a reason for this? And as a result, would it be preferred to wire this for 568A or 568B configuration.

BEST ANSWER: Pairs are twisted with a different twist rate to help avoid interference from adjacent pairs, this is why each of two pairs have the same twist rate.

Good day. No, it does not matter how tight or loose the wires are twisted as you will need to untwist them anyway in order to terminate the ends. Either 568a or 568b is fine, doesnt matter which one you use as long as the entire environment you're in (home or business network) uses the same configuration throughout. I personally used 568b to wire my house as thats the most widely used method in the industry.
