Micro USB OTG Adapter
Today's smartphones are more powerful than many computers from even just a few years ago. Unleash the power of your phone by giving it access to the same USB peripherals that make your PC easier to use - keyboards, mice, flash drives, and game controllers - using this USB On-The-Go Adapter from Monoprice!
USB On-The-Go is an extension of the USB 2.0 specification. Basically it allows an OTG equipped device, such as your phone, to act as USB host. In host mode, you can connect peripheral devices, such as keyboards, mice, drives, etc., to your phone the same as you would connect them to your PC. The Android operating system is a powerful OS that includes support for these external peripherals. With an OTG adapter you can connect them to your phone and use them the same as you would use them on a PC.
When combined with an Mobile audio/video adapter to output the video from your phone to your HDTV, you've got a full-powered computer workstation in your pocket! Enjoy retro gaming using the proper controller for the emulated game system. Type up a report for work using a full-sized keyboard and mouse. You can even copy pictures and music from one phone to another without having to use a PC as an intermediate device.
OTG opens up a world of possibilities and helps you get the most out of your digital life!

PROS: Works on my Samsung Galaxy S4 connector is low profile enough that it still fits while my Spiegen Slim Armor case is on.
Monoprice is so good, I almost hate writing a review because it feels like what happens when you tell a friend about a great little restaurant. They tell a friend, and that person tells a friend until, pretty soon, the place gets so popular you can't get a table. Well, when th
PROS: The product!
The speed of shipment!
The security I feel just dealing with Monoprice!
CONS: The only one I can think of is the fact that it wasn't hand-delivered by a half-naked Victoria's Secret model. But that's really my own fault, I selected Standard shipping and I guess that's the Super-Ultra-Deluxe shipping option.
PROS: Well built. Monoprice value can't be beat
CONS: None after a few weeks of use
PROS: Works with Nexus Media Importer App on my Nexus 7 to read (copy or stream) files from a USB stick or Powered USB hard drive without having to Root the device. (If you root the device you can use stick mount).
Will also work with a mouse and such.
CONS: Nothing so far.
Then I remembered Monoprice. It took a little looking on the website but I found what I wanted I was pleasantly surprised bu the price and shipping cost so I ordered two and paid less for them than I paid for the last one, I waited a lot less for the shipping time as the last one came from China.
Lesson learned = always use Monoprice. (no I was not paid for this)
PROS: This works great on my nexus 7.
This allowed me to increase it's storage by using a spare 16 Gb memory card. I can also connect other things like hard drive, mouse and keyboard.
If I use a regular USB cable to connect a USB Card reader to my tablet, nothing happens. This is because the tablet still thinks it's a guest device.
The way USB OTG works, a special USB OTG cable is needed to tell my tablet to act as the host. There's actually an extra pin on the MicroUSB end which controls this USB OTG behavior. On the other end of this small cable is a standard USB port.
So, when you attach this USB OTG cable to a device like a phone or a tablet that supports USB OTG (only some devices support this!), the device acts like a PC and becomes the USB host for whatever you attach.
And that's where the magic happens. You can attach thumb drives, HDDs, other phones and tablets, you name it.
NOTE - You need to know 2 things here:
1. There are power limitations here. So if you try to attach a big HDD that needs a lot of power to your tiny little phone, the phone may not be able to power that HDD. Experimentation is needed.
2. Most devices (like my Lenovo Yoga with its Android OS) will need at least 1 special piece of software to first MOUNT the device. Once mounted, you may need additional software to browse and/or use the device. Your mileage may vary. Seek the forums of truth for details.
PROS: Small. Efficient. Genuine USB On The Go (OTG).
