I moved to an area that only has DSL. Is this the type of cable i would use from the line in wall to the DSL modem/router?

BEST ANSWER: If the DSL is being provided over the existing phone line then yes, because the phone line is RJ11. If they are installing a new line/service then the tech may use an RJ45/Ethernet jack. In that case you can technically still use this as RJ11 (4pin) is smaller than RJ45 (8pin) but it’s not recommended.

are these cables plenum rated?
A shopper
on Jun 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I've never thought about this attribute as a short cable like this is generally usually from a phone to a wall jack. That said, I would assume that flat station cable is not plenum rated. In my experience, flat cable is used in short runs in exposed locations where one is looking for a quick and simple attachment of a connecting jack. It takes a lot less time and effort to attach a fitting to flat cable than it does to attach the same fitting to round cable. Plenum cable is generally used for longer, concealed runs. I started using Cat 5 cable years ago even for telephony as the twisted-pair construction of Cat 5 cable so substantially reduced cross-talk and other sources of interference as to be well worth the additional cost.

Can this cable be used to connect a landline phone to a FIOS box?
A shopper
on May 29, 2021
My regular RJ11 landline phone line is a DRY LINE. The phone co. tech. configured it to presently transmit only DSL . I have not bought the phone service from the phone co). Do I have to use a straight RJ11 (6P4A) DATA cable to carry my DSL to my modem ?

Sometimes shorter lengths are needed
This cable is actually a bit of ancient history, connecting a desk phone to a baseboard wall jack. Given that many of us now have local system with patch panels, sometimes shorter cable are more appropriate resolutions for connection problems. This cable needs to be made available with a bit more shielding and in two or three foot lengths.

Cable is good quality & works as intended. The cable was also much less than the cables I could find locally.
