8inch SATA 15pin Female w/ Latch to Molex 4pin Male Power Adapter

The Serial ATA standard provides for the adoption of a new 15-pin drive power connector, replacing the ubiquitous 4-pin Molex connector. However, existing system cases and power supplies may have an insufficient number of SATA power connectors, while still retaining the older Molex connectors.

This 8" adapter cable plugs into a 4-pin Molex power plug and provides a single 15-pin SATA power connector, with a locking latch so that your connection does not come loose due to movement or vibration.

Warning! The Molex connector provides only 5 and 12 VDC power. While many SATA drives only require these power levels, some require the additional 3.3 VDC power provided for in the SATA specification. Make sure your drive does not require 3.3 VDC before purchasing this adapter cable.

Works, but too wide for most drives
I would not buy these again, even for a drone desktop I don't care about. The SATA connector is just plain built wrong and no one at QA thought to actually measure the cables and tell engineering that. Spend a few more dollars and get a cable that's made correctly.

PROS: Quality molex connector, works, latches solidly.

CONS: The SATA side of the adapter is almost 2mm wider than it should be. It will not mate evenly with a SATA drive. It sticks off at a 5-10 degree angle. In all cases so far it's still worked, but it's definitely not correct.
Like several other low cost cables, the latches are poorly designed and very difficult to remove without taking part of the drive's plastic with it. This may be a plus in some cases.

    SATA Power Adaptor Cable
I found these connectors on a search of the net, and Monoprice had a very competitive cost. I ordered a few, and was pleased with what I got. They were delivered on time, and the cables are well made.

The SATA connectors on my cables for my modular PSU were too close together so I needed an alternative.

8" SATA 15pin Female w/Latch to Molex 4pin Male Power Adapter
This is a good product for the money. This 8" power supply adapter-cable turns any standard MOLEX 4pin power supply cable into a SATA 15pin Female power cable w/ Latch. Makes adding a SATA powered pcie card to any system simple and easy, providing you have an available Molex 4pin female power supply port available on your existing systems power supply.

PROS: Great product for the price!

    CONS: None

    Cheap, latching SATA power cable
User imjustmatthew's review is spot-on. The connector is clearly too wide, by a couple of millimeters. If lined up and connected at the same time as SATA data cable, it's possible to make it fit (very, very tightly), though. I haven't had a problem with the latch, but then again I don't have much experience with (high quality) SATA cables or much to compare to.

PROS: Inexpensive. Does the job (mostly).

CONS: SATA connection is too wide, may not fit, or fit too tight. Unsleeved cables. Latch may be too tight.
