How would you mount a shelf on top of this bracket? I see product ID 8631 and I understand how you'd put it on the bottom, but don't see how you'd mount it on top of this bracket, unless you occupy 1U of space. Basically, if I have a patch panel in the topmost slot of the bracket, how would I cover it from the top?
There is not an easy way to accomplish that. I mounted the shelf in the top 2 slot in the rack, but I also planned for that space to be used for a shelf. If you looking more for a lid, You could fashion one out of 16ga flat stop steel, paint it and then essentially build yourself a lid.
I mounted mine on the top. Mount this with the wholes facing you and connect it to the shelf. Move the patch panel down one. Mine from to to bottom is. Shelf, patch panel, switch.
Great functionality for the price! One of the mounting ?ears? was a bit bent, but nothing a pair of pliers can straighten up! I would recommend these shelves to anyone who has a need and a budget!??
It helps with particle density fluctuations while traveling hyper-light speed
I used this shelf to hold coffee mugs and proton accelerators on my interdimensional time transport ship. The bolt pattern was the same as the gravity diffuser it replaced. There were some thorium particles in the metal alloy, and that was an issue with the interstellar radial response beacon, but overall, it did a good job with supporting the coffee mug.
Knocking off 1 star because one of the ears came bent on one of the two I ordered. But otherwise no complaints. Had recently gotten a new desk with rack-mount space and only have 1 rackmount unit so these shelves help to store and apollo twin, DI and cloudlifter as well as another for random chords/papers/hard drives. Not much to write home about, it's a shelf!
First one came bent, damaged in shipping but Monoprice gladly replaced. I then went to town and built a Power Sequencing unit out of it. Excellent value for the money. Strong and not too deep. Just what i needed.
I bought this shelf to place a router and modem on for my home network install since those items were not rack mountable. I liked the construction of the shelf and it provides just the amount of space that I needed. The high lip on the front and the back of the shelf are helpful to keep things from sliding off the front or the back of the shelf. I used the screws that came with the rack because the screws that came with the shelf were the wrong size for my small rack.
Needed another shelf for a Monoprice rack I installed some years back so this was a no brainier. Slightly different; more dull finish then the previous one purchased years ago.
One star off for shipping. This item ships in a plastic bag inside a large box with a few air pillows. It busted through the side of the box in two locations and both corners of the shelf on the front were bent with paint chipped on one side. This things needs better protection for shipping - especially from California to Pennsylvania.
