If sound quality is important stay away from bluetooth. Bluetooth is good for phone calls not much more.

BEST ANSWER: If you are using the cable with the mic be sure the TRS end (2 rings) is in the headphones and the TRRS (3 rings) is in the devise. Be sure whateve plug you are using that both sides are completely plugged in. If neither of these is the issue then you may have a defective unit and should return for exchange. this is done through your account on monoprice.com.

It is supposed to have audio in both ears. If you're only hearing it in one ear, it may be because the patch cable is broken. Just put a different one in and it might work. I had a cable that eventually broke, and audio only came through one ear, but when I tried a different one, it worked in both ears (neither cable had a microphone on it).

The audio jack is connected to one side only and the headphones only operate in normal stereo mode with no option to separate each ear into it's own audio stream. You will have to find an app or software on whatever device you are plugging them into to be able to accomplish what you would like to do.

The headphones are stereo so check to make sure that if you are using a 1/4 inch adapter that it is a TRS mot a TS that will only provide a feed to one ear.

The thicker cable with the mix on it should have the mic more near to you, so in your case i think you might have the big cable reversed.

BEST ANSWER: I assume you mean amplifier. The headphones have a 3.5 mm jack, but also come with an 1/4" adapter that fits the traditional headphone jack on most amplifier.

They work with anything that has a 3.5mm jack. If your MP3 playes has one of such jacks (which most likely does), then it should work.

BEST ANSWER: These are great sounding headphones and have great bass sound. They are an amazing set and I bought a second pair for my kids. As for blocking out screaming kids, they will if you have your music turned up. Keep in mind, these are not active noise cancelling. Those are different kinds of headphones which actually listen in the earcups eith microphones, and then produce a sound wave in opposite phase that greatly reduces the ambient sound.

Is there some reason my computer won't read the headphones as existing? I can hear sound out of them when they're plugged into the aux port, but I can't hear any Skype sounds (ringing nor people in calls) nor can I use the in-line mic whatsoever.

You will have to check the schematic of your home phone to see if it is a match. Since most home phones are mono my gut says probably not.

BEST ANSWER: Customer support told me they do not sell the replacements. I had to find one on Amazon when my cat chewed mine (the reason I bought these :P)

When you buy a replacement, make sure you search for 3.5mm Male to 3.5mm Male audio cable with mic and volume control.

For the 3.5mm TRRS cable with a single-button inline microphone/controller - it causes the left speaker to be notably quieter than the right. Is this by design, or a defect?

BEST ANSWER: That sounds like a defect. Mine don't do that. Try wiggling the cable around and check the connections at both ends, make sure it's seated correctly. Call Monoprice. Hopefully it's just the cable and they can send you a new one.

I have two of these headphones. I bought cables on Amazon. The ones I got include a microphone and volume control, so I can use them with my phone. Look for ones with 3.5 mm connectors.

If I have them plugged into my input port, the mic doesn't work. If I have them plugged into my output port, I can't hear?

BEST ANSWER: Input port? Output port? It sounds like you're using something with classic separate mic and headphone jacks. The mic cable for this is designed for the newer combo "headset" jacks that have both in one plug with 4 silver rings / 3 black lines. To use it with separate jacks, you need an adapter. You should at least be able to hear through the output port though.

Your 3.5mm jack should have 3 black lines on the plug. Make sure you are using the right cord.

Fine for 1 year
These worked fine for daily use at my desk for about a year. After 12 months of use the plastic is cracking on one side which impacts the fit. They are now slightly unbalanced, and I expect them to fail completely soon.
New they were a little uncomfortable for me with an average to large head. The ear cups are comfortable, even over my glasses, but the pressure is a little high, and the pad on the band on top bothers me after about 30-45 minutes.
For the price they were good, and I don't regret the purchase.

The headphones are great - I love them as they they meet all my needs. I am disappointed in the "free shipping" - it took 15 days for them to reach me (from Kentucky to Vermont) via FedEx Smart Post.

Well-built, but needs comfort upgrades
For its price, the audio and build quality is great. Here's the catch: the unmodified headphones are incredibly uncomfortable. Buying a pair of big cushy earpads is a must.

Everything is great except for the durability
I wish I read the other reviews before buying so that I could avoid these headphones but after about a year my headphones broke around the hinges as seen in the photos. It seems that other people had this issue but they've never fixed it.

Five or six years ago I was looking for some headphones to take to the gym. I found some monoprice in-ear ones on eBay for a decent price and was amazed at how well they sounded. This year I was looking for replacement earphones for my guitar amps and remembered the other ones. I found this model on Amazon and it had great reviews, so I took a $17 risk. They sound great and are comfortable. Thanks again monoprice.

Decent for the price
I grabbed these headphones after a mention from a YouTube video promoting them. I figured for the price, I would try them out. The sound is decent, but I feel it is lacking in the upper-mid and high range.. which leads to a bit of a muffled sound. It's no audiophile headphone, but if you don't have a need for lifelike clarity or frequency range, these are a good buy.

My first pair lasted several years.
I purchased this again because I was happy with the first pair. They are comfortable and loud enough for my 65 year old ears. Highly recommend this pair.

Comfortable but has a muffled sound.
The sound is very muffled compared to my other headsets at the same price from a different company, as if the highs were rolled off slightly. I use them for tracking drums so that's not a huge concern. They are fairly comfortable however.
