We've been staring at old, beige knobs for years and these really freshened up the walls. The throughput from these is much better than the old ones, so it wasn't just a pretty face.

Cheap plastic, does not slide smoothly, would NOT recommend.

This product is 2.75" deep. Standard NEC box depths are 2.5" and 3.5" so it is wise to check this if you are installing into an existing box. Don't forget to factor in the thickness of the drywall/plaster. An alternative is to use a Class 2 (low voltage) backless bracket (eg: Carlron SC100RR (1-gang) or SC200RR (2-gang).

Note that the wiring can only exit the terminal blocks to the left side. This can cause a congestion problem in a single gang box.

As others have indicated, the weak point of this product are the terminal blocks. They are rather flimsy and only have latches on one side. Thus, intermittent contact is an issue. The suggestion to secure with tie-wraps can work but the design should provide a more positive latch.

These are great!!! Much better than the Knob dials. Wife wanted new ones that didn’t stick out.

Works fine, but not a true white color.

These switches were easy to install and worked very well and most of all were priced affordable. Being used in our office and conference areas.

Slider clicks on teh way up and down, just has a very cheap feel returned

I purchased 6 of these volume controls to do an upgrade on a previous system, the price is low, but the volume control is well made and works perfectly, One thing I will say, if you are connecting them to a 4 or 6 speaker selector switch (also available via MONOPRICE), be sure that you don't get your input and output wires switched, I had one set of input/output wires switched at the volume control and there was almost no volume through any of the speakers. these switches take care of impedance matching, once the plugs were switched around, everything sounded great!

PROS: well made, sturdy and a great price

CONS: plugs tend to slip off the connectors easily when putting back into the opening, check your volume before screwing back into the wall, or maybe a drop of superglue to keep plug firmly attached once wires have been inserted.

I ordered these because I was having a lot of noise and static in my speakers. The old volume controls also popped every time I adjusted them. They were the rotary knob type and I also wanted something that was easy to tell what the volume was set at. These dropped right into the old 1 gang box and hooked up easily. All problems solved. They are a little stiff in the slider action. This will probably ease over time, but they are never going to super smooth. However, they cost less than half of some of the others I looked at, so I am not going to nit pick because they function extremely well.

PROS: Looks good.

Functions well.

CONS: A little stiff in the overall action.

Really good product, well made. Using as a volume control for my monoprice ceiling speakers in my master ensuite. Keep in mind the screw connectors are plugs and are removable to make connections easier.
