Adapted my LSI 9211-8i to 8x SATA perfectly. Both cables worked as advertised. SATA cables are very thin, but allow for tight bends right out of the connector. The sleeving make the cable a little stiff, but can be removed. Connectors are labeled 1-4, include latches on both ends, and fit securely.
Over the last 4 years I've been purchasing these cables, one here and two there. In total I've got approximately 8 of these deployed. They have all been excellent and I'm happy to say that Monoprice isn't trying to fix what isn't broken over these 4 years. I can buy today the same excellent cable that I bought 4 years ago and at a great price.
I installed my set in September of 2013 and have not had problems with the cables in my FreeNAS box. The speed compliance questions by other reviewers did have me wondering if new cables would be of any real benefit so when I rebuilt my box I decided to see if there was any real difference.
The test unit is an AS-Rock 880 MB with an AMD 965 quad core processor and 16GB of DDR3-1600 ram. The drives are five 3TB Seagates in a Z1 configuration (FreeNAS version of Raid 5).
I hooked everything up and did a scrub so that there would be no time difference for fixing any errors. There were none so I rebooted the machine and ran the scrub once again, the time was within a minute of the first run at 2hrs 34min. I then disconnected all the drives from the motherboard and hooked them up to a Dell H310 controller (flashed to work with FreeNAS) and two of these cables. I used 2 connections on cable 1 and 3 connections on cable 2 and ran the scrub again. The time was 2hrs 36 minutes. Since the drives are SATA 3, the motherboard is SATA 3 and the controller card is SATA 3 the only difference was the cables. If the cables cause the system to be 2 minutes slower after 2 1/2 hours I really can't complain and that difference probably falls within the margin of error anyway. It is my opinion that my system can't overload the capability of these cables. That isn't to say if you ran the same tests with SSD drives there wouldn't be a difference since the transfer rate of SSDs is so much greater but there seems to be no degradation running 7200 rpm mechanical drives.
PROS: Inexpensive, decent quality, locks in.
CONS: Stiffer than I would like but I can live with it.
This is the second pair of breakout cables I've ordered from Monoprice the first have performed perfectly, so there was no hesitation whatsoever in getting another pair. I'm using these on an IBM ServeRaid M1015 set to IT mode (for a FreeNAS build) previous experience has proven that they work exactly as advertised.
PROS: Well-built and inexpensive, a rare combination. They get the job done. Both ends clip on securely, and the drive end cables are labeled clearly P1 through P4.
my Dell precision cable came with only two fan out, I am not sure why , but this is have 4 fan out for 4 drive, it also feel like OEM and the latch help keep thing stay connect
PROS: the latch, it click and hold on to the drive, regular cable don't have this option
