Does this unit have an optical outlet on it for an optical cord?
A shopper
on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, no optical cord. It works extremely well as a simple HDMI switch that works automatically as you turn on and off your Tivos, cable box, DVD player, etc.

Will the signal reverse? For example: can I plug a bluray player into the output, a TV into 1 input, and a projector into the 2nd input? Hoping the bluray player would send its signal to either the TV or Projector depending on which is powered on...

BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately this unit would not work in reverse. What you would want to use for that set up would be an HDMI splitter. I would recommend a powered splitter, such as Product # 15379.

I have a Roku Premier that I need to manually reboot (unplug/replug power) each time I turn on the TV before the HDMI connects. Will this allow me to power up/ power down remotely to resolve this issue?
A shopper
on Oct 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Only the HDMI signal runs through this device, not power. The optional power adapter is to power the switch if the inputs need a little boost. It's not going to cycle the power on your Roku for you. Now, if the problem happens to be that the Roku is not providing a strong signal through the HDMI, if you got this switch with the optional power adapter it might help, but I wouldn't bank on that.

I tried using this to switch between a Mac mini and a laptop computer to use the same monitor. The laptop works fine but the mac will not connect when I switch back to it from using the laptop if both are on. I push the button and can use the laptop. Push it again and screen is just black. If I unplug the mac's HDMI cable and then reinsert it the mac's display comes up. Would a different switch solve this?

I have three projectors at my church that's receiving input from HDMI splitter. That splitter gets input from a HDMI switch. A PC and camcorder is plugged into the switch. When I go from PC to camcorder, I notice that the projector resyncs resulting in blue logo screen for about 3 seconds until it resyncs. Is this the projector issue or switch? Or that's just how things are with this HDMI switch?

Works superbly. It has a mind of it's own, and gets to know your preferences, and automatically switches to whatever sauce I chose on the TV.
I hope this helps you.

hdmi switch switches 'back' automatically
most switches of this type will switch to the new source but not switch back when the source is switched back off. This one does.
It's the only one I've found that does this. It's Great!!!!!

The Blackbird HDMI works as advertised.
This switch is working fine for me, was easy to setup, and the picture quality isn't affected. For longer cables, a power supply might be necessary.

Works fine
The Blackbird 2x1 HDMI 1.4 Switch works as required, toggling between two HDMI sources to a 24" monitor. I'd buy another if I needed another 2x1 switch.

Doesn't work with cable box
It won't work properly with my Spectrum cable box. Not a product I'd recommend because of the hassle factor.
The aspect ratio/resolution of the box has to be reset every time you turn it on. This never happens when connecting directly to TV.
Sometimes, cycling the power will fix it, other times you have to reset the resolution.
Sometimes I get an HDCP error and no picture, just the error message.

Simple switch does the job
There's not much to say about this simple switch, except that it works and works well. My favorite feature is the auto switching between sources. There's a manual switch on the device, but I almost never use it, as the switch seems smart enough to figure out which source I want to use. Makes the experience seamless.

No ac Adapter
The unit has a port for an ac adapter but doesn't come with one. Also, it is a smaller size that common adapters have which make it hard to find one that will fit. Monoprice tech support was no help.
