BEST ANSWER: This is the setup that I have. I love it. It works just like an old school telephone switch board. I bought five 1.5 foot HDMI cables and one 3 foot HDMI cable. I assigned the first six ports to "sources" and the last six ports to "sinks". I then used the short cables to wire sources to sinks. The big thing to watch out for is signal loss if you are going over long distances, since each cable and connection comes with its own signal loss. Repeaters placed just before long (35~ foot) cables works wonders here. Normal length (6-10 foot) cables have zero issues. Just remember you can only have one active cable *or* repeater per daisy chain!

No this is just a distribution panel. You need an HDMI switch to do what you are thinking about and they are quite expensive for rack mounted ones

You should have no issues as long as the input port of one the the channels is the video and you are then plugging into HDMI of the TV set.

Hi, No this does not work like a switch. It is purely a means of terminating a bundle of HMDI Leads and connecting to them individually.

No. It's not a switch. It's just a pass through.

BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. This item only has pass-through HDMI ports and no actual switch/splitter function. So it will still use individual port for function. I hope this helps, thank you!

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. This HDMI patch panel will have pass-through HDMI couplers which will be able to support all HDMI signals. It is just a short 1 to 1 connection. You would have no issues with 4K.
However, keep in mind the length of the cables being used and be sure that your HDMI cables support the correct speed. HDMI signals will degrade at certain lengths.
Should you require additional assistance, please reach out to our technical support team with a detailed question via any of the methods available here:

What are the threaded brass nut things above the HDMI ports for?

BEST ANSWER: This are for "locking" HDMI connectors. Monoprice does not carry a locking HDMI cable, but we have a locking port saver PID 8062 that is designed to compliment this panel. It will prevent the weight of the cable from loosening the connection while still providing a break away if something where to get caught and pull the cable away.

Does this allow me to run multiple devices through it and connect to 1 tv, and then choose the port for the device I want to use? I'm not sure if this works like a switch or not.

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
Unfortunately not, this item by itself has each individual out directly connected to each in. It would not be a switch.

BEST ANSWER: No, this is just a patch panel, not an HDMI Splitter/Distribution Amplifier. Each HDMI port is a 1 to 1 connection only.

Looking to begin upgrading my rack and equipment to HDMI 2.1, more future proofing than anything. Will this be capable of allowing that signal to pass through?

Nice HDMI panel
Best style patch panel to use over keystone loaded type panel that prevents disconnect when cable maybe flexed and pulls out of blank patch panel port you may of used loaded keystone jacks.
These hdmi ports are all screwed in and prevents HDMI jack from disconnects from panel.

Solid construction and stiff ports on the back. This is perfect for my "telephone switchboard" style home theater input selection.

Yup, it's an HDMI patch panel
I have an equipment rack next to my desk where I have all my computer equipment. Running all video output through the patch panel then to the monitors is nice to allow for quick changing of monitor configuration (depending what I'm doing). Also allows for fast and convenient testing of other HDMI video sources (like when jailbreaking Apple TV 2's).
Build quality is good. Fits in my rack nicely and looks pretty badass.
I'm going to eventually get the 4x4 HDMI matrix switch (PID 8151) and run it through the patch panel. But I might need to get another one of these things by then.
PROS: Works. Cheap enough.
CONS: Doesn't do my taxes for me.
