BEST ANSWER: While I have not cut into the power cord, I doubt if you could find one that was not copper even if you tried. Some of the items I purchase are for spares so I do not know of any problems, but I'm sure you can but this
item with confidence if it meets your needs otherwise.

Needed the 90 degree bend.
If you are pushing the powered device up against a wall, having the 90 degree angle is a must for strain relief. I have power supplies backed up to a wall on the bench. Without the 90 degree formed bend the power cord was always getting bent and crimped. This solved that and even allows the power supplies to be pushed back a little further.

Perfect fit
The cable is of good quality, the right angle plug saves some space, and I was able to get a short length which fits neatly under the desk. I am totally pleased.

I used this to replace the plug on my Yamaha Receiver due to clearance issues. So far it has done its job. It would have been nice if Monoprice offered the opposite plug 180° To this one

Perfect for 3D printer
I used this to replace the power cable on my Wanaho Duplicator i3 (same as the Monoprice maker select). That way the power cable does not bend so much coming out of the control box. Works perfectly.

Just perfect for what I needed. I used it for my Juki Longarm machine to replace the long cord and it did the trick?? I will be buying more of this item.

I like less spaghetti
The product met all my expectations.
PROS: I suppose Im silly, but I dislike clutter behind my computer. Short power cords, while not necessary, really improve the appearance of my work area.
CONS: The 14AWG has higher capacity than any computer, monitor, or printer needs. It is less flexible. A smaller gauge, say 18AWG, would have been a better choice.

Solved my problems!
Replaced my old straight cord with this one to make the set up and tear down of my stage rig faster. Using the old cord, I had to unplug the cord at the amp end in order to get my rear case lid on and secured. With the new cord, which has a right angle at the female, amp side, I can leave the cable plugged in at all times. This is the first cord I could find to mach the gauge of the cord that came with my amp. Wish I knew about Monoprice 13 years ago when I rack mounted my amp!
PROS: The right angle was perfect for my application. The ability to choose a shorter length made this product even more attractive.
CONS: NONE!
