Are these connectors pass through?
A shopper
on Sep 28, 2021
BEST ANSWER: No, they are not pass-through. You must cut all eight of your wires to length and line them up under the pins in order before crimping. I had one or two duds when I started due to lack of experience, but once you get the hang of it they work very well.

These connectors are not wired. They are the connectors for making your own patch cables by terminating cable with these connectors. When you use one of these to terminate a cat5e or cat6 cable, you choose which wires get connected to which pins in this connector (pinning out). In short, you can use these to make a crossover patch cable or a straight through patch cable.

any connector is pass through. it is how you wire it that determines the type of cable.
Crossover and Straight cable are created by which wires you place in which slot on each end of your cable.

will this work with solid cat6 cable?
A shopper
on May 15, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have used these plugs with solid Cat6, 23 gauge. You MUST spend a lot of time getting each wire straight, both individually and together once you align them. The best way to do this is to roll the wires around a ballpoint pen. If you don't have one then your pinky finger can substitute, just spin around the cylinder and then the other way. Bend them in every direction. You just might spend 10-20 minutes getting one plug end perfectly straight but once you do this the plug will take your solid Cat6 without a problem.

We use them on Cat6 but itdepends on the Cat6 cable. Cat6A is especially tough but we have had no problems at all.

will these work with solid cat6 wire?
Alex B

BEST ANSWER: I have used these plugs with solid Cat6. The secret is to get your stripped wires perfectly straight. You are only going to manage to do this by spending a lot of time with each individual wire, and again once you have all the wires aligned together. A great way to do this more quickly is to use a perfectly round ballpoint pen, just roll each wire around the side of the cylinder, then turn around and roll it the other way, bend wires up and down, side to side. You just might spend anywhere from 10-20 mins on each plug end but it will be worth it, once you have it perfectly straight and aligned, cut to fit and these plugs will take your Cat6 easily. Takes some practice but it is worth the result.

The Monoprice solid STP (Product # 12733) will not fit in these. If you're using that you need #24757.

Any category 4 twisted pair cable should be solid. These are designed for CAT6 so they should be compatible with any CAT6 cable

I don't believe so, I believe it's just a grounded/shielded design. Forgive my ignorance, I've purchased Mono price RJ45's for several years at a fraction of distributor pricing.

Fashion a Load Bar
These are very difficult to put on. Fashion a load bar out of cutting a small strip of electrical tape. It is very easy to spend a lot of time trying to get these on.

nearly impossible to get the wires to line up correctly
I thought it was me having the problem but after looking at the reviews I realize I wasn't the the only one having problems . after wasting a dozen and switching to an older cat5 plug and getting it the first try i realize these staggered connections without a feeder insert are next to impossible to get feed correctly.

No loading bar - don't bother
These are absolutely ridiculous. It is basically impossible to load this and get everything to seat right. Complete waste of money.

Great Plug, Don't Fret the Bad Reviews
I too have been cabling for 15+ years and can tell you that dealing with anything 25- AWG can be quite challenging even for those with a good deal of experienced and dexterity. With that said, there's nothing wrong with this plug and even the average Joe with a little practice and patience can make this work.
Below are a couple of tips for helping terminate 25-23AWG cable with this plug:
- When stripping the cable, measure the plug length to the cable then take back that length about a cm to leave a little more room. This is especially important if you are terminating shielded cable that is generally a little wider in overall diameter.
- If you are terminating 6A most of the time the cable itself will be too large to fit inside the connector. Some have had complaints about this and I'm not quite sure why. It will not fit and that's obvious, to remain shielded and grounded make sure that the ground lead is inserted into the plug and in a position that it will end up crimped and secured when you're read to make the crimp
- Make sure your wires are absolutely straight!!! Yes this is a pain, yes your fingers and thumbs will probably hurt after you're done, but the pay off should be worth it.
- This is a staggered plug so when you're inserting the wires be sure to pay attention to the orientation of the wires. This is where the extra length can help and hurt you. Too long and you might crush and bend one of the wires, too short and you're not going to make it to the contacts at the end for the plug. Again, just take your time and you'll get the hang of it.
- If you're worried about aesthetics do yourself a favor and buy some cable boots.
- Practice practice practice. Seriously though, they are $0.11 a piece so don't be afraid to waste a few to get the hang of it.
Monoprice, if you're reading this please note that a loading bar would be helpful to include with this plug. Some of the issues that others have noted could be eased if there was a loading bar included.

Not so great
Too small for the Cat 6 I purchased (23AWG) Would not hold in any of the switches I tried, too loose. (Unifi POE & Belkin Green) Should have trusted the other reviews.

Not happy with these
These are both harder to work with and less sturdy than most connectors we've used in the past. If you manage to get all wires in the proper place the end isn't going to stay on anyway. I'd keep looking, find a different brand.
