Does this work with a stereo headset that has a microphone?

BEST ANSWER: It depends, if the headset has the mic. and headset on the same plug (as in 4 black rings on the male shaft, tip, ring, sleeve and sleeve) the mic. won't work because this is for a TRS shaft. (only 3 black bands) The last 4 ring plug I had was the next size smaller than this adapter. (2.5mm)

This was used on plug that was 3.5mm male with 3 metal bands. A headset that is stereo with mic will have 4 metal bands and is not likely to work with this adapter. Either it will short out the mic or one of the stereo channels.

In most cases, it will work fine for just the ear pieces, the microphone, however, will not work. I am told that Apple products may not work at all due to how it detects the headset.

3.5mm Audio Jack Coupler
The coupler is exactly as per Monoprice picture. I am from Canada and it took about 2.5 weeks for delivery and no tracking available on the Canadian side!
