Good value. Bought the same adapter from Radio Shack before they went away. One RS adapter worked and the other did not. They were gone when I realized the problem. But thanks to MP this adapter works fine with our older personal hearing device at our church. And about $4.00 cheaper!
These are a better (tighter) fit than the ones I was using before. Many of the other ones became loose after a few years. We'll see if these last longer.
Bridging the worlds of ham radio and stereo audio stuff
Ham radio uses mostly mono audio cables and the odd cable with a mono plug on one end and stereo on the other. Most modern audio cables are all stereo to stereo. The bulk pricing at monoprice for these adapter units helped bridge the mono/stereo gap for my ham radio needs. I find stereo cables at a local $1 store and use one of these adapter plugs. It's cheaper than buying mono plugs and cutting/soldering it onto a stereo cable.
Cord that comes with the units is cheap and came DOA
The usb to mini cable that connects to the phone was DOA. Mine did not work with my Nokia L 920 so I thought it was a voltage or current issue. I hacked a cable to get it to fit inside the unit and it worked fine. The hack cable was not something I can travel with. They made this usb housing sit inside through a smaller opening so a regular usb to mini cable would not fit. I think this was a bad design as I would like to see the option to use a regular cable in case the supplied cable gets broken or comes broken. With a universal opening you can just easily swap to another. They did say they would replace it but I needed this unit as I was about to travel so had to cut the plastic to make it UNIVERSAL. Glad it came broken because if it failed while on a job site I would not have been able to cut anything. They could not send me a replacement cord for future use so o well and proceeded with the surgery. Happy with the product and the customer service was great. Just needed a working device quick so had to butcher it a bit to get it to work. For the price it is well worth it. Few modifications and it can be even better.
PROS: Units is nice and sleek. Has a wall plug built in.
CONS: No Universal usb connection. If your cable breaks or comes broke.... get ready to cut.
