BEST ANSWER: The pointy end plugs into a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and the other end accepts the larger 1/4” headphone plug. Beware that some phones won’t have room for the large barrel, especially if they are in a case.

Yes, the wording is confusing. I use this adapter for my headphones which have the 6.35 mm diameter plug to listen to audio on my mobile devices (like a phone or tablet) which uses the 3.5 mm plug.

is this 1'/4" female to 1/8" male?
A shopper
on Apr 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: A 3.5mm isn't actually 1/8". 1/8" converts to 3.175mm, so it may be too big for some plugs, the 1/4" to mm conversion is proper and correct.

Is the XLR pass-through stereo? I'd like to create a 2.1 setup without a receiver or a pre/pro by connecting this subwoofer's XLR input to my LG CX 77 television's 3.5mm headphone output via an XLR-to-TRS cable into TRS-to-3.5mm adapter, then connect this subwoofer's XLR output to an M2100X to power a pair of THX-465T speakers. (I can upgrade that system later by adding a pre/pro, more amps, and more speakers.) Would this work?

Decent
Works perfectly fine, but it does not insert firmly and can be easily disconnected with the slightest amount of force. Not good if you move around a bit.

Just What Dr. Jimmy Needed!
I just purchased an Emotiva XMC-1 and walls it has for ?? headphone jack is 3.5mm. My typical headphone amplifier is the Monolith Balanced headphone amplifier and AKM Dac. I usually use a balanced cable but I have an adapter to a 6.35mm TRS Stereo jack. I was just curious of the headphone output of this new preamp and this adapter is perfect. It's stereo to stereo, and that's just what I needed. And you can't beat Monoprice's price's anywhere. $.59 cent's. Yea buddy! Just is just a budget a preamp till I can afford either a Classe´ Audio CT-SSP, or an NAD M17 V2, which also has an FM Tuner in it. I have a Pass Labs X3 Amplifier on the way. My speaker's are Klipsch's KP301 II's right & left and KLF C7 Center. Technics ST-G30 Music Server & CD Ripper, and Oppo BDP 103D Media Player, and last but not least Sennheiser HD650 Headphones.

Good performance
The old plug we were using was causing erratic sound and static. Once we installed the one from Monoprice, our problems went away.

Excellent value for a cost-effective solution
Simple, very cost-effective solution for my problem. I ordered several since the shipping price was the same for one as it was for 6 (and you never know when the need will pop up for a spare). It's a deal like this that keeps me coming back to Monoprice.

Literally unusable
QC is on par with something you'd get from an el-cheapo brand off amazon - completely unusable due to loose fitment and my 1/4 inch rattling around inside the female end of this connector, resulting in right/left channels not being connected. Nowhere near fitting correctly, much less snug. Waste of money
