will this crimper work with the #7266 Cat6 plugs (which don't have the additional strand-crimping window in the middle, as the # 7245 Cat5 plugs do )? There were reviews about one of the toolkit crimpers crushing the plugs, suggesting that they are not multi-purpose dies. I can find no other crimpers here that specifically list compatibility with "Cat6" (AMP?) plugs like these.
Misaligned, consistently destroys any connectors I use. The crimping teeth snag on the connector plastic leaving a plastic ledge on top of the contact. That leads to no contact between a jack and connector.
I bought this to run some Ethernet cable in my house. It is excellent for cutting cable off the spool but when trying to strip the outer covering to expose the inner wires it has the nasty tendency to cut though those inner wires.
PROS: Excellent for cutting cables into shorter lengths
CONS: It cuts though the inner wires when trying to strip off the other covering thus wasting cable.
I'm new to creating cables and bought this because it crimps/cuts/strips. There were no instructions with the device, and when I try to strip the cable jacket in the "8P Strips" part of the tool, it always cuts into the paired wires inside. I will need to look for a separate stripper tool when I wanted to get an "all-in-one device"
PROS: Seems sturdy, ratchet works well
CONS: No instructions in the package or on the website, and stripper doesn't seem to work. Package says "instructions on the back side", but it just has a diagram and doesn't explain how to use the stripper properly - or I'm using it properly and it cuts into the pairs for Cat 6 cable.
This is only my second crimp tool. The first one I paid about the same for from a big box store can't compare to this tool. This tool is solid and provides the perfect amount of pressure. All functions work perfectly. Cutting, stripping and crimping are all an ease.
I'm new to networking and this crimper makes me feel like a pro. Just insert the rj45 and crimp. Tested all the cables I've made so far with a monoprice tester and they have all worked and tested green. I made a 100' cable for a second router and it worked flawless.
PROS: Easy to handle, ratcheting ensure you get a complete crimp,
