BEST ANSWER: They are plastic so don't come near the weight they say they'll hold if you expect them to hang horizontal, they bend with mine with up facing speakers.

ABS plastic of some type with metal wall bracket - they work great and have a lot of adjustability for angling the speaker anyway you want.

It's plastic - all of it. But well constructed and nicely machined. I highly recommend these mounts for small to medium speakers.

It’s a plastic material. I mounted some pretty heavy Klipsch Quintet 5.1 speakers without issue.

Are these mounts able to point speakers downward for 5.1.2 Atmos if mounted to a wall?
A shopper
on Apr 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: They can tilt up/down 20 degrees, some geometry would need to be worked out to see if it would point down for an ATMOS configuration. This is shown in the dimensions diagram on the product's web page.

Can the mounts be turned horizontal on the wall for wider speakers and sound bars?
A shopper
on Jan 25, 2023
BEST ANSWER: You can but then the speaker will only move up and down instead of panning left to right. Also note, this has a 7.5 lb capacity. Monoprice has other wall mounts of great build (this has a great build and is great for smaller speakers!) That may better fit your needs.

They're definitely not designed for it.
That being said, there's nothing about the mechanism that inherently wouldn't work sideways, although I suspect it would reduce the weight it can hold.

I think you could do that. However, gravity definitely helps keep it all in place when mounted vertically. Also keep in mind the weight limit.

You shouldn't have an issue to use them horizontally for wider speakers and maybe some modification for using a sound bar setup.

Monoprice Low Profile 7.5 lb. Capacity Speaker Wall Mount Brackets (Pair), Black
Monoprice MP-65RT 6.5in and Ribbon Tweeter 2-Way Bookshelf Speakers (Pair), Black
BEST ANSWER: There is no standard mounting mp-65rt. You must either be willing to drill into the speaker cabinet or choose clamp-style mounting. Given the low price, I chose to drill. The rear panel of the cabinet is plenty strong and thick enough to support the speakers with 2+ wood screws.
I personally wouldn't choose a low-profile mount unless i was mounting them perfectly straight and level; because the speakers are large, a low-profile mount will severely limit the ability to aim them. A mount with more distance from the wall will allow the speaker to tilt a bit.
A love the sound quality, but these ribbons are more sensitive to sub-optimal listening positions. Point them toward the listening position and they are fantastic.

Can the mounts be turned horizontal on the wall for wider speakers and soundbars?
New User U
on Jan 25, 2023
BEST ANSWER: If you are trying to get a long speaker bar to rotate more without hitting the wall, changing the orientation of the mounting bracket wouldn't help. It swivels horizontally when mounted as shown. Mounting it horizontally would make it swivel vertically. I think what you want to do could be done by mounting the speaker/soundbar vertically on the mount so long as you don't mind the change in sound dynamics. A soundbar trying to separate left from right would now separate up and down. Probably still not what you're looking for but up to you. Also, mounting the bracket horizontally would most likely mean only 1 of the mounting screws would be in a stud unless you have more than a single 2X4 in your wall. The holes in the mounting bracket are 1.5" apart. You might be better off finding a bracket that extends from the wall further.

It could be mounted horizontally, there is a set screw at the top that locks the mount to the wall plate so it will not fall or pull off, but lateral movement will be restricted, up and down you can move it almost 180 degrees. This is a very small speaker wall mount (2X3") and it will hold the 7.5 lbs. but any speaker that is over 8" is not practical.

How well does this hold up monoprices own 5.1 speaker systems?
A shopper
on Jul 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: In terms of holding, it does just fine - the surround speakers are relatively small and light. However, I have an issue with proper adjustment for my particular setup. Because my speakers are mounted close to the ceiling (approx 8' high) and behind my couch (approx 2' back), and because of the short neck on the speaker mounts, I cannot angle the speakers towards my listening position.

The speakers have a hole on the back getting in the way of the mount but it will hold them. I have had no issues with them since I mounted them, and they do not rattle either. They have held up pretty well for me.

Only good for very light speakers.
I have a pair of bookshelf speakers that are specified as 6 lbs. When attached to these mounts the plastic bends uncomfortably. I decided to replace them for mounts with a higher weight rating. These mounts would be fine for small aamd very light speakers but I would not recommend them if your speakers are close to the 7.5 lb rating.

Great Little Speaker Mounts
I don't often post reviews, but these mounts are fantastic! Really appreciate the full adjustability, discreet size, solid construction & the price of these speaker mounts. They easily hold my surround speakers, 1 pound each, from my Vizio M Series surround system & would have no problem supporting more weight. Much cleaner look & easier than squeezing in speaker stands.

Cheap and easy
Can't beat the price. Does the job nicely. Had to modify a bit to use with Klipsch Surround 3's. Specifically drill out the bracket mount for 1/4 - 20 screw which is what the Surround 3's are tapped for. Also had to modify the bottom of the bracket where it attaches to the Surround 3's so that the bracket does not depress the BT pairing button on the speakers. Like I said - cheap and it does the job with some mods. Recommended.

Great for the Price in Spite of Poor Wall Anchors
I have owned and used eleven of these brackets for several years. I have compared the price to similar brackets, and these from Monoprice are clearly less expensive -- and I am pleased with both their appearance and endurance. However, the provided, plastic wall anchors do not work on their own. One must either replace them with better ones or use expanding Gorilla Glue on the outside and inside of the anchors.
