Can this be ceiling mounted?
A shopper
on Jan 26, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. Best way to have a ceiling mounted 5.1 surround setup. Just mount these and have someone run
the speaker wires in the attic/crawlspace. I replaced another set of mounts about six months ago and these
work perfectly. For the price or even for five times the price, you can't do better. For optimum results have
someone play around with the downward mounting angle while you listen SEATED for the best sound. Mine
are pointed downward by about 40 degrees in the rear and 30 in the front. Your mileage may vary. Good luck
and enjoy the sounds. With this kind of setup, I strongly recommend Amazon HD/Ultra HD streaming. Look
into it.

it would depend on the size of your speakers, but it should work. you'd want to make sure two of your mounting screws catch the beams/studs to be sure it's secure, and decent anchors for the other two screws.
I have mine attached to a beam across my basement ceiling and after tweaking the angle a bit, it allows my fairly large Cambridge Soundworks S300 surround speakers to hang from above.

It really depends on what your ceiling is made out of....drywall, plaster, etc...I would make sure to hit a stud/joist/truss on 2 of the anchor holes and make sure you use the correct anchor type based on weight and building material. I use them for my "front height" speakers and I am using rather large bookshelf speakers and these work great!!

Sure, as long as you attach it to a ceiling joist with at least a 2' screw of at least a #10 size. I wouldn't trust a molly or plastic anchor.

Are these compatible with keyhole mount and do they come with necessary hardware?
A shopper
on Feb 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I modified these to work with keyhole mounts by cutting a small piece of wood and affixing it to the mount on one side with two wood screws and putting another wood screw on the other side of the piece of wood. The head of the wood screw on the opposite side fits into the keyhole of the speaker. Aside from this oversight in design, these are high quality mounts.

These mounts will not work with a keyhole mount - they are meant to attach via bolt or machine screw to threads already on the speaker. That hardware usually comes with the speaker, though the sizes are standard enough that I was able to get some from the hardware store. No hardware comes for mounting the bracket. The image is all that's in the box.

Maybe. If your keyhole Mount is removable, then yes. You can take the top bracket off the hanger off, then attach the keyhole to the mount and attach the keyhole mount back on to the speaker. This is how I did it with my Klipsch R14S’s.

Not in stock form, although it does have a self-locking nut on the threaded adapter so it might be possible, but as I don't have speakers that use the threaded mounting system I can't check until later. You might try the speaker mounts that are intended for this use, although they're not built as strong.

There are multiple ways to use this mount. For a screw mount, you will have to remove the speaker mount plate and use a piece of all thread that fits the speaker and mount.

How far do they stick out from the wall?
MICHAEL R.
on Feb 23, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Really depends on what speaker, how it’s mounted, and if it’s “angled”. I used just one of these mount’s for my center speaker, suspended under a mantle, and you couldn’t get the speaker any tighter up under the mantle. If you mounted it exactly perpendicular to surface, it’s 6 1/2”… 3 1/2 to the center of adjustable part, and 3” from that to the mounting point on speaker, the whole point of this mount is that it hinges, and I don’t see why you would use it for perpendicular mount.

How does this bracket attach to a stud when the mounting holes are more than 3 inches apart?
Arthur
on Oct 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I didn't attach mine to wall studs. I used 50Lb rated metal drywall anchors, and these speaker mounts are so strong you could probably suspend a child from the base, as the speaker mount itself is only rated for 33Lbs. I wouldn't worry about not mounting to studs unless you literally CAN'T use anchors.

I think you clearly know the answer to your question already, you are making a comment not asking a question. Mounting brackets like this are made to mount to the wall using anchors, not intended to always be mounted to a stud because the chances of studs being symmetrical from one side of the room to the other are slim.

Stage Right by Monoprice SV28 8in Bi-amplified Powered Studio Monitor Speakers with 150W Class AB Amp and 1in Silk Dome (pair)
BEST ANSWER: First thing I would want to know is the weight of these speakers. Powered speakers are heavier than a traditional speaker. Second item before you mount the bracket to the speaker itself, I would take the screws out of the back to make sure that you don’t hit any of the internal components. Would it work? Probably but you might want to look at a sturdier mount just because of the weight.

Not exactly. Those mounts are meant for rear mounting to threaded holes these speakers don't appear to have. Futhermore, because they're active, there's a PCB under that rear plate I'd be concerned about hitting if you tried making your own. You could mount from underneath, but it's probably better to use a platform-type mount system

What is the distance between holes on the bracket that actually mounts to the speaker? My speakers have two screw inserts that are 60mm apart.
A shopper
on May 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These speaker mounts do a pretty good job. The distance between the hole mounts on the end of the mount that actually mounts to the back of the speaker is 2.5 inches from the center of each hole. It should be noted that the distance across each hole is .5 inch which gives the installer a little distance to play with. I am using these mounts at the rear surround location of my system holding up Klipsch RP-250S speakers, which are pretty heavy. Due to my room constraints, I had to mount these speakers a bit higher than I wanted so it was necessary I could tilt them down a bit so they hit the main listening position. I was able to do that with these mounts, and even with the weight of these speakers, the mounts have remained secured. I would suggest if you are considering using these mounts with speakers that weigh a significant amount, due to the overall size of the wall baseplates, I would secure them to wall studs with 2 of the screw holes. Bottom line, they work. One last thing...I was not able to use the existing screw holes on the back of the RP-250S speakers (they had keyhole brackets) so I had to drill new holes after removing the keyhole brackets. However, they work fine.

How do you adjust the rotation of the arm that attaches to the bracket on the wall? I don't see a wing nut for tightening it to that bracket.
The PDF manual is less than helpful to understand how this works.

BEST ANSWER: There’s a nut on the underside of the bracket, for the “arm” as you call it, that allows the “arm” to be turned 360 degrees. This thing adjusts pretty much any way you can imagine.

Underneath the 4 bolt bracket, there is a nut you can loosen which lets you rotate the post 360 degrees if needed.

Is this too wide to screw into a floor joist?
New User U
on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question.
That would depend on the width of your joist.
This was made to go into studs in the wall, which are typically 2x4s, so if those would be around the same size as your joist it would likely fit.

We have not tested them with that speaker specifically but if they use M5 screws they would definitely mount onto this bracket.

Would recommend for ceiling mount
For the price, I'm glad there are things out there like this. Used these to hold a pair of ceiling mounted, and another pair to hold a pair of wall mounted 10lb HTM-200SE bookshelf speakers using DIN rail and steel wire for support/safety. I would buy these again for ceiling mounts (pic 1). The weight of my 10lb speakers really didn't make them budge at a 50 degree angle from the ceiling. However, unless you are mounting these straight off the wall (no L or R tilt), i would NOT recommend for wall mounts (pic 2). You can easily lock the center pivot point wing nut to 10 degree angles, but the nut that holds the base piece to the arm can not easily be tightened, and even if you do, it will always twist with the weight of the speaker. I had a difficult time rigging my steel wire in order to get the wall mounted speaker pair to sit at the right angles. These seem very sturdy for 10lb speakers. Not sure I would go much over that, though, depending on the speaker's depth.

Sturdy
Basic but sturdy. Holds my 20-lb speakers without any slip in the pviot. You'll need to supply your own wall anchors or other mounting hardware, as others have said.
One thing which isn't obvious from the photos is that the head end (which attaches to the speaker) is able to swivel on the post. It's held in place by a thumbscrew on the side of the post, which keeps it on well enough and allows for angling in any direction, but doesn't make the connection rigid. So there's a fair amount of play there. With the posts straight out, my speakers end up angled down maybe 20 degrees. That's OK, since I wanted them angled. But they wobble if I push them.
All told they are a great bargain, and work better than I thought they would given the price. So 4 stars overall.

Sturdy, versatile mount. Have to really tighten everything down to keep it from slipping. After that, very reliable.

Nicely adjustable
The "safety" cable is not going to handle a fall from a 33 pound item. mounting pattern only allows om one set of mounting holes to hit a stud.

Spend your money on something stronger
Kind of chintzy. I will be replacing them with something stronger as I am afraid that they will fail under load and hurt someone. The attached safety cable parted just from handling it.
