For the most part it works. The screws for the 2 individual plates are not threaded all the way so they were useless for all but one location.

first off, the wallplate is cheap. Nothing wrong with that in this instance. The design is slightly awkward in that you first secure the insert pieces to the wallboard. If you are working from a standard double gang box, you will screw each module into the sheetrock. Now, why the screws supplied to do this are not threaded completely (the 1/2" screw, only has threads on the first 1/4" of the screw) doesn't make sense.

PROS: Cheap. Very inexpensive. Like others have stated, purchase a few extra in case one of them breaks (had not happened to me but could be an issue).

CONS: Cheap.

Like people say, these things are very fragile, and breakable, but thankfully they're extremely cheap, so buy extras. Also remember to drill holes in the wall behind where you screw in the wallplate part.

I used these with official leviton oversized nylon wallplates and they fit perfectly. I also used my own screws since like people said the included ones are unsuitable for gang boxes.

Even though I bought double the amount of these I needed I still only paid a fraction of what Home Depot and other stores want for the exact same product. Glad I did as I broke 2 during installation! Once installed however they are solid, so factoring the end result with the cost is why I'm giving this the 4 stars.

I don't know enough about standard wall plate screw positioning to comment on it other than to say it fit in my particular case, but if it's helpful to anyone I just measured the distance between the two screws as exactly: 3 and 13/16 inches.




PROS: Has enough room for 4 ethernet ports, side by side or above/below.



After reading the reviews, I had an accurate picture of the crappy item I was receiving.

CONS: You need to buy your own 6 wall plate screws, either 1/2 inch or 1 inch, because as others have said, the screws that come with it are not long enough (they're only 1/4 inch). They stick out only a millimeter or two after passing the wall plate and the keystone insert.



The keystone insert does not sit completely sturdy in the wall plate, it has a minor degree of bend to it when touching it or plugging stuff in.



No idea why they included wood screws, complete waste, don't try to use them at all or you'll risk damaging the threads on the plate.

Take a quick look at all the pictures and you'll see why you don't want this. Pictures 2 and 3 show the crazy mounting style and picture 4 will show the screws that don't match up with any type of wall plate.



These double-gang plates won't match up correctly to your double-gang box and you probably won't be able to put in all four screws that mount to the wall. It's also overly complicated. This should be one piece of rigid plastic and four screws. Instead it's three pieces of flimsy plastic, four tiny screws, and four wood screws.

CONS: 1. Doesn't line up to standard double-gang box



2. The plate doesn't have any re-enforced plastic on the back so it bends when you plug a jack into it



3. There are two adapter plates that are separate from the main plate that need to be connected together for the plate to work



4. It comes with four wood screws and the threads don't begin to match the screw holes in any wall plate

This is not what you want. You will have problems mounting it. The keystone plates are a separate pieces from the overall plate. Machine screws are inteded to mount through the larger plate then through the keystone plates then into a 2 gang box. No problem there in principle. However, in execution the included machine screws aren't long enough to extend past the back of the large plate so they're of no use. There are longer screws, but they are wood screws which don't pass through the machined holes in the keystone plates and should never have been included with anything intended to attach to an electrical box.



So instead of having my problem solved easily, I've now got to add a trip to buy longer 6-32 screws to my list of things to do. As much as I think Monoprice does a pretty good job, I'll stick to specialist companies from now on for my wall plating needs. I just don't have time for products that make more work for me.

PROS: Um, the keystone plate fits keystones properly, I guess.

CONS: Beware of 3 design/quality problems as follows:

1) The bottom brass threads in the wall plate, used to mount the cover on the wall plates damaged on all the wall plates. The top threaded inserts are fine. This was consistent on all 10 of these dual gang Wall Plates/Covers I ordered (20 wall plates in all). Unfortunately this required that these be repaired by running a 6-32 thread tap thru each, which cost me an hour to time to drive to the shop and pick up the tap, plus the time to do it, and I also broke two when I discovered the problem, because the brass insert spun out. There is no reason this should happen other than a lack of manufacturing quality control!



2) The screws that hold the cover plates on the wall plates are a tiny bit long, and when screwed in they push against the drywall causing the thin plastic wall plate to bend/warp away from the wall, and in the end the cover often does not sit flush against the wall, leaving a gap. In order to fix this either a) the screws need to be shorter, or b) the wall plate needs to be stronger so the screw drives into the drywall instead of warping the wall plate.



3) Also, the supplied screws that mount the wall plates to the electrical box are woods screws, however electrical boxes are 6-32. . . so I needed to purchase the proper 6-32 screws at a hardware store. Another problem that should not exist.

PROS: Generally nice design.

CONS: The long screws are incorrect thread Type and break when screwed into an electrical box. Major problem! No excuse for this.

The white paint on the screws comes off very easily when installing the cover. It makes an otherwise clean install look cheap.

These outlet covers accomplished what I wanted to do and not much more. If you are used to the tougher nylon ones available at the big box stores these are not that as these are made of a very brittle plastic. Additionally the wall plate barely covered the work box (length and width appear to be about 3/8 inch smaller than a standard wall plate) and it would not sit flush to the wall on initial installation. You can remove the ears on the inner keystone plate to improve the fit to the wall but it still isn't flush. After installing one I bumped into a connected/protruding CAT6 cable connection and the plate broke. I only needed one but bought three because the price was right and I'm glad I had extra as a spares.
