Is this three conductor or two?

BEST ANSWER: It's stereo, so 3. 2 would be mono. Stereo requires ground, left, and right.

Do these work with TRRS tipped earbuds / headsets? I bought similar keystones from Amazon but they were specifically TRS only and gave TRRS earbuds that "wire jiggle" effect. I don't need the mic to work, just for it to sound in stereo with TRRS earbuds.

BEST ANSWER: This jack works like a coupler. As long as you just need stereo capability such as with conventional ear phones, it should work fine.

Can this be used for an IR cable?
Jacob E
on Jul 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it could be used for IR. It is a 3 conductor "straight through" jack designed for stereo audio. If you are using it for an IR eye, you will use all 3 conductors. If you are using it for an IR emitter, you will only use 2 of them.

What are the physical dimensions? How deep does this extend behind the back of the faceplate?

Good value
Works well. Fits tightly into Keystone panel. Headphone plug fits very tightly into the jack on both ends so will not work its way out accidentally

Works like a charm
This 3.5 mm stereo keystone worked perfect. It snaps into a standard keystone plate. It works like a coupler. Input on one side, output on the other. It works like a charm and would recommend it.

Works well with a remote extender
I'm using these with a remote control extender and multiple stereo headphone cables.
They work extremely well. They also transmitted music just fine when I tested them.
They were a little tighter than some other keystone jacks when inserting them in wall plates but once inserted they are just fine,.

excellent for IR repeater
I bought this adapter to use for an IR repeater system with a cable run behind a wall. I just plugged the receiver into this plug and on the back side a long cable to run to the repeater itself. This adapter works perfectly for the IR repeater and the remotes are functioning perfectly.

Good, but flawed design
The jack sticks way out in the back, meaning that you can't fit a MonoPrice Premium (even Standard is "iffy") cable in a standard-depth electricalbox. Works really well with a right angle adapter though... Which of course Monoprice doesn't carry.
PROS: It works...
CONS: ...using a part that Monoprice doesn't carry.

Lemon. Doesn't work when fully seated.
I bought this in 2013, installed it in the beginning of 2014, and yet didnt' get a chance to actually TRY it until yesterday. Guess what, it doesn't work. When the cable is fully seated and secured in both sides, I get NO audio at all. I have to pull the front jack so far out to even hear anything, that its basically just floating in there not secured at all. Of course because of this, the connection is poor and I don't get audio coming from all of my speakers. I bypass this stupid thing and all audio works great. Quite disappointed.
PROS: Fits in the wall plate. Looks good.
CONS: Connections are too tight. Doesn't work at all when cables are fully pushed in, which is when it should actually work the best!

Poor
I usually love monoprice products however this one is a lemon. Bought 3 of these and all fail for the same reason. The connection between the keystone and a 3.5mm headphone plug is terrible, and you only get mono out the other side. Bypass the keystone and all is good again. If you need a headphone outlet , best find another way, these are not fit for purpose.

It fit perfectly in keystone wall plate I purchased elsewhere. The only downside is that the jack is very stiff when plugging in a cable.
