Is this cable shielded?

BEST ANSWER: It is, but like so many things in life, it's a matter of degree. This was the cheapest subwoofer cable I could find, until I could decide on a better one, costing up to 10 times the price of this one. If you're having problems with hum or EMI/RF interference, you gotta buy a cable with more and better shielding. Some cables, the expensive ones, have up to three separate layers of shielding. MonoPrice sells a number of quality level cables, the best being the Monolith series. My advice to you: buy the best cable your budget can afford, especially if you're having problems with hum or interference. Hope this answers your question.

I Would Buy A Better Shielded Cable Instead
This cable has minimal shielding, as I found out after I ran it. I listen to a lot of FM radio, and after installing the cable I fired up the stereo and my favorite FM stations all had some sort of noise along with a lower signal strength, but the noise wasn?t 60Hz hum. At first I thought I was imagining things or it was a fluke variation in signal strength. But just in case this might happen, I also bought a higher end, better shielded Monoprice cable, which I planned to return if I didn?t use. Well, I swapped cables and the noise was gone, and my FM signal strength returned to previous levels.

Thin cable
I was surprised at how thin it was. Much skinnier than most subwoofer cables. Works fine though for the price.

I get ALL my cables from Monoprice
In addition to the 25 ft. phono cable I also purchased a 15 foot HDMI cable, a 12 ft. optical cable and a 6 ft. USB extension cable. I have installed them all and as usual they are working fine and my cost was less than half of what it would have cost at a store like Best Buy or even Walmart.
I always have and I will continue to get all my cables, adapters, etc. from Monoprice. My son recently bought a 3D printer from Monoprice and he is extremely satisfied with it.
