Can you unthread this from the keystone? I simply want to swap out a white RCA on my 8.2 wall plate with a red one (not keystone).

BEST ANSWER: That should work unless you're using balanced xlr connectors. I used it to connect to a subwoofer.

Can I connect 16 AWG speaker wire to this?

BEST ANSWER: Maybe. You'd need to use an RCA plug with solder points on the other end. You'd need to solder the positive and negative speaker wire to the positive and negative solder pins.. It would be much easier to use something like this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8436 . . . a keystone jack that is designed to connect speaker cable to it. Then you can use a banana jack for the speaker cable on the front side and connect the bare 16 gauge speaker wire on the inside connector (in the wall).

Not directly. It's a dual-RCA (female jacks on both sides), so the 16 gauge wire needs to be soldered or otherwise connected to an RCA plug that then plugs into this adapter. What you may want would be an RCA jack on one side and "banana" posts or similar on the other, then you just connect the 16 gauge wire to the banana plug. I don't know these guys' website well enough to know if they sell that, but they might. Hope this helps.

Works Perfectly
This worked perfectly for me.. If fit tightly into my the keystone faceplate as expected. I was using a plate that put the adjacent jacks really close together, which is probably the case for all 6-jack Decora keystone inserts, and in one case I had to sand off the bumps on the tabs in the back to make it fit. This was not the fault of this product; either the plate or the adjacent jack was out of spec. In any case, these look great, fit perfectly, and function correctly.

Worth recommending
Great selection, fast shipping, and pricing no one can come even close, including other sites with free shipping. My regret comes from the fact that before finding this top notch, saving money, friendly site, I have ordered a few Keystone Jacks from eBay and a month later...I am still waiting. In the meantime, Monoprice has already delivered my two orders, and the third is on the way.
As for complaints from other reviewers about fitting problems with modular Keystone Jacks, I have no such issues at all. To the contrary, having Keystone plates from different sources, as well, as form this site, all purchased Jacks are easily interchangeable.

Good, but not great
I bought the red (as well as green and blue) connectors so that I could mount them to the 4-hole plate with VGA, which works but not quite as well as I had hoped. You must hold these connectors in place while connecting cords
PROS: functional, low signal loss, easy to install, easy to use
CONS: not "tight" enough fit to be truly secure

Keystones ROCK!!!
Allowed me to run all the wires in the wall with minimal effort. AWESOME! Thanks Monoprice.
PROS: Does everything it's supposed to. Very versatile. Bought a bunch of them. Set up one side of the 6 hole face plate as R,G,B the other side was R,W and HDMI. AWESOME!
