These lights only have a manual focus; it is not motorized. You simply turn the lens that is around edge of the light to focus it.

Can these lights be mounted on the ceiling?

Can these lights be hung on a grid? Any clamp ability?

Yes. I bought a pair if these lights. Each came with a bracket to be mounted upside down. However, there is no safety system. There's an additional (6mm?) threaded hole, but no eyelet for a safety cable provided. I hope this helps.

Is there an update to the manual? There is no 4 Ch DMX in this unit it's 12 or 9 and the manual isn't reflecting the proper channels for DMX control to light function. Trying to program it with an Obey 40 and finding it impossible due to the inconsistencies.

Most lights at this price point do that. It is a function of the driver behind the LED. 100% down to 5% is actually pretty good. I have 6 of these and they all do that. They work fine for my application.

on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There is really not a good way to mount these onto a speaker stand that I know of. You could use a traditional lighting tripod stand to mount them to, but when I did this, the motion of these lights would move the T-bar that they were on quite a bit and give a disorienting effect to the lights and it didn't seem safe to leave them on this type of a stand. I would suggest either hanging them from sturdy trussing, putting them directly on the floor, or on top of truss columns. I have a dozen of these right now and they do make a great effect especially indoors, but the motion of the lights has to be accounted for when mounting or hanging them. Good luck.

It's July 2020, I am really considering these lights especially with the sale price of 150ish dollars going on right now. However, I am really concerned that the manual has not been updated, especially because in the comments section people say setting this up in DMX light software proves troublesome and the last update says March of 2016, has an update been released that fixes the channel issue so it can be used in DMX? If no I am going to have to look elsewere for a moving head light cause I plan to use these in ShowXpress Software, please and thanks! - Nick

Won't find much better for the money.
Not a bad little light. Needs some room to bloom if youre gonna use it for gobo duty on a stage. The lens isn't for small stages, unless you are ok with more of a pinspot. It's only a 30 watt fixture, so It isn't just the brightest thing around. However, for the price, it is a good buy. The servo motors are quick. The gobo patterns are pretty decent and usable.
No zoom, and no gobo spin. But, a very, very decent budget fixture that behaves while on duty.

Super good for the cheap price
MUCH better than I would have anticipated for the price. Warehouse pickup was very smooth. The light is much more versatile and bright than I would have imagined! The lens is all plastic and is very cheap so be careful when focusing, but other than that it's amazing! Great for beams of light when used with haze, I wouldn't use it as a wash, but if you're looking for a good beam of light for a concert/DJ set then it's dope!

If You Use DMX, Good Luck
The light is bright and functions pretty well (I think it does what it is supposed to). The problem is the user manual was incorrectly written in 2016 and there has been no update. The DMX values in the manual are useless. For example it says that channel 8 produces a white light when set at values between 0-23. In that particular range, you actually will get 3 different colors depending on the value. White is actually only from 0-9, not 0-23. If you do not mind reverse engineering the product and creating your own DMX fixture profile, it is great. Just time consuming.
Also someone had mentioned this in another comment in May of 2018 and was told an updated version of the manual would be released. Not yet.

Stage Beam 30
The Stage Beam 30 has worked very well for me. I have 6 at the moment and Ive had no trouble at all. They are almost identical to the ADJ Inno pocket spot but brighter. They are very fast and smooth. If it has a flaw I would say the Green on the color wheel is a little pale. It should be the same deep green as the pocket spot. That being said, I wouldnt let it stop me from buying more of these. Great light at a good price.

Awesome for price ... but one minor issue
These lights are great, a nice low cost option over ADJ or others however when programming DMX, the manual needs a major overhaul. The DMX channels don't line up with the lights software so what you expect vs what you get don't line up. I've run them in manual control from my Obey 40 and preset some of the internal programs to scenes however the full extent of this lights abilities have yet to reveal themselves because of the issues with the manual.

Promising
I received these yesterday and am working with them today in a high school theater. As of 5/4 there is no profile defined for these by ETC, so while I will write a custom patch I don't yet have the ability to test full DMX control. The demo shows the motors are fast, colors bright and the gobos provide are adequate. A software issue on the light may cause a problem on bootup. If these work out, they will be nice supplemental lights for the money. No instructions or safety screw were in the boxes. (I bought multiple fixtures, so it wasn't an anomaly.)
PROS: Good brightness in a HS theater. Sharp colors. Decent gobos (after focusing).
CONS: Upon boot the light must swivel 360' to self test. If it was turned off in the second part of its travel, it will fail this test and click as if a gear was stripping. Turning off the power and rotating to the other end then powering up again kept me from RMA'ing these immediately. We'll see.
As of writing there is no ETC light profile yet. I'll write a custom patch, but hopefully a profile will be released by ETC soon allowing us to use all of the features of this.
Branded "Stage Right" instead of Monoprice. This seems a poor choice since other companies are already using that name, and I would trust the m\Monoprice name more. Seems like a bad marketing idea.
No instructions or safety screw in the box. Instructions (including dmx mapping) are on the product page online - no problem. Safety screw is a much bigger oversight. Bracket does not impress me as sturdy, but I'm using it. Standard washer did not fit as the bracket is small. (Replaced with lock washer anyway.)

Mighty small, mighty powerful
When I first received the package, I said to myself it looks like they only sent one. This was shock that turned into a great surprize! The lights were much smaller then expected but by no means did that mean anything but this is even cooler. Although small in size they are more then powerful, bright, sharp and smooth. The light fixture package is much nicer then the similar wash RGB fixture. Programs much the same way and is easy to use. Precision and quiet are two other terms I would use to describe it. I want to buy more soon! You should by these if your in a small club or a mobile DJ or a house of worship! It will be a celebration!

Very cool light
We bought two of these for the lobby of our laser tag facility. They're awesome! Bright, good colours, fast moving, small. Very pleased with the purchase, especially considering the price. Not that long ago there would have been a $500 light.
The only issue with them so far is that the manual is totally wrong. The menu isn't laid out at all how the manual says it is. The Live Chat tech support was useless. I managed to figure out how to turn blackout off through trial and error. That's why they don't get 5 stars.
The built-in programs are cool, even if they're totally un-documented....
I haven't noticed the fan noise like others I guess. But I've never used them in a silent room.
PROS: Bright, small, FAST, good colours
CONS: Menu has no relations to anything in the manual. I almost returned mine because I couldn't get them to come out of blackout mode. Turns out there's a menu function you have to turn on to make it work (not in the manual at all!)
