Yes. It’s a 3 pin grounded removable cable that connects to the light with a C13/14 connector. Think like a desktop computer or printer. They can also be daisy chained.

Can I use these with the 10 watt Monoprice Par lights and the Monoprice DMX controller without the use of a dimmer pack?
David A
on Nov 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These are DMX512 Compatible, or on board settings selectable. If you are using DMX Cable, you can send the signal from Master out and if the other lights are set to receive such signal, they will respond the same. If you have a simple light mixer, it is fully controllable in that you have full control over all the lights. (Best way) simple 3 channel Light Mixer. Check out if Monoprice has such a device.

Yes, you can. I use this light bar with the par light and the DMX controller. What you have to be careful of and figure out is the different channels the DMX uses. One of them is an 8 channel light and the bar has multiple options. I got mine to work in sync and they work well together.

Yes. You do not need to dim either of those lights. Dimming them can hurt the electrical components on the inside. You can use a dimmer pack to power them on and off if you set the pack to non-dim or switched.

BEST ANSWER: I don't believe so. I know that Monoprice changes items on the fly, but nothing in the units or docs suggests that an RF receiver is or will be available for this model -so probably no remote control hopes. That said, the built in controls are very complete, and the units have worked flawlessly with 3 DMX control systems I've used.

Nope. You either control the light using the buttons on the side of the fixture, or get and use a DMX controller to control the light 'remotely'.
It's a good light for the money; I have two that I use for wash-lights and I'm very happy with them.

Yes, you have full individual control of the red, green, and blue LEDs. If you put it in higher channel modes, you can get even more control, zoning different parts of the light. However, all of this is done via DMX. I don't know that you could just put it on an external dimmer

They dim. It's not entirely smooth from off to on, but from 100% intensity down to well under 30% no hiccups. IF they are your only lights on, you will notice when they fade out. If you're going from off to on, and you fade in there's no harsh flash or anything like that.

If I was mounting this along the pipe, I'd try to "adjust" a u-clamp to fit the brackets at each end. If it was cross the pipe, I'd fasten the clamps to a backer board then mount the board to the pipe using u-clamps.

Are these suitable for video use? Will they strobe? Has anyone tried them in a TV studio? Are there issues with the refresh rates?
Kyle H
on Jun 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes they will work for video. Extremely bright at 0 degree axis however may cause a camera error unless used off-axis. It does have a strobe setting and that setting is very accurate but not as accurate as an actual DJ strobe per say.
No lag in program reset rate that I noticed. The unit performance functions are spot on, especially at this price point. If the unit does not perform to your spec, the only other option is to use an authentic DJ unit. And if so plan on spending more $$.

I have used these for many community stage events and for uplighting events. I have not noticed any strobing issues. I think the frequency is high enough that you won't notice strobing. I don't know you planned usage. If it to uplight/downlight the back of a tv set, they cold work. They won't not be good for lighting the talent (in most cases, because of the beam spread).

Get one in and test it out, if it doesn’t work well in your setup look at a more expensive option from ADJ or Elation.

Can these bars be daisy chain to each other (power source I see yes) but how about lighting program, so they do the exact same thing at the same time ?
A shopper
on Nov 19, 2022
BEST ANSWER: They are controlled either manually through dip switch settings or through a DMX controller. What you are wanting is a DMX controlled chaining of the devices so you would need to chain them together with DMX cables with a terminator at the end of the chain. You would then assign each light a channel (if you want them all to do the same thing assign them the same channel) and then use a DMX lighting controller to tell the lights what to do and if they are all set to the same channel they will all do the same thing. Hope that helps.

BEST ANSWER: The monprice LED Light Bars are a great value. I think you experiencing that difference between conventional lighting fixtures compared to LEDs. The primary colors that LEDs create, especially in this price range, are not as saturated as using lamp based fixtures and theater gel. The blue light spectrum is to most notable with this issue. There are higher end LEd fixtures that have more saturated primary colors, but they can cost us to 10 times the amount of the monoprice light bars. The turquoise blue is the best they can do. (There are technical concepts like light wavelength, additive/subtractive lighting and other issues.) The monoprice strips are still great for color mixing and be cost effective. Most of the time the LED blue is not a problem, but the issue shows up when using a mixture of conventional lighting and LED based lighting.

Are these lights UL approved?
Joshua I
on May 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Unsure as to UL approval.
All LED lights are DC voltage. Being there is a power cord that plugs into wall current, there is AC to DC step down transformer installed internally to convert the wall current to estimated 12 volt DC to power the LED's.
The power cord (to the wall) has a ground prong so the units case is grounded. The shock factor is reduced.
Most (if not all) DC power supplies are 2 prong (ungrounded) However on most of the DJ type LED lights I have dissected, the wall outlet ground plug always attaches to the case of the unit with a common ground connection. Any internal malfunction or moisture issue would be directed to ground. Although UL approved or not, no appliance should be exposed to moisture nor the ground pin disconnected.

In a word: yes. Canadian and European certification marks appear on the device as well. It's also 3-prong.

The bar as a whole can produce the usual combination of 255 shades of red x 255 shades of green x 255 shades of blue, to make up to 16 million colors. What's cool is that -- depending on how many channels you assign to it -- you can divide the strip into up to 8 segments, each of which can be individually controlled (same 16M color gamut) so it's not just a wash light, but can be used for audience-facing special effects; I've used it to roll through rainbows, imitate police lights (red-blue flashing) and chases going back and forth along the strip.. Surprisingly versatile. I have 2 and am looking to get more.

Not sure but I would imagine so. We use an American DJ stage setter controller and they work fine with it.

Yes they are flicker free. The refresh rate is very high, we use these with live broadcast cameras and never have any problems.

BEST ANSWER: It depends upon what you are trying to do. As long as the mapping corresponds to the number of channels you are using, it should be fine. If you try to use the 26 channel mode in the pixel generator, make sure you note that the last two channels are common. Also, after you create the fixture, to map it, you will need to go back and edit the fixture and ensure that all of the question marks associated with each channel are replaced with the appropriate function icon (for example R G B and Dimmer in 4 channel mode). Hopefully that helps.

I can go through the process of making a custom fixture profile, its just that every time I go back to the editor in the software to make a light scene, the light just wont come on. It might be because Im not creating the profile right..

Great light!
Great light and easy to use.
Only complaint is that I wish the spread of the light was wider but that?s fixed by adding additional lights
Looks cool and lots of varieties of patterns

Weak compared to similar lights
My stage has 2 of these and 4 Chauvet Colorbars. The Chauvet lights are more expensive, but provide a much deeper color wash and better coverage. I also find that the profile of this light makes it difficult to use in one direction -- the power cable comes out an angle to the floor making it necessary to turn the whole light 180 degrees. This can be inconvenient depending on the location of the AC power and connections to other lights. Otherwise, good lights for the money.

Great lights for the price point
For the price point these are hard to beat. Only concern would be the green LED tends to be a little weaker so getting a good yellow (Red plus Green) is a bit hard. Most other colors are pretty easy to get out of these. I would love to see them add amber to make an RGBA, and an all white but tunable white version of these bars would also be a fantastic option. However adding an Amber LED would be my number one request - even if it doubled the price I'd still buy a lot of them!

Great light with a great price!
I am giving these lights 5 stars for their performance within their price range. For the money you can't beat these. They have lots of features, And for a cheap way to wash walls they're great! They took a little while to be shipped but was worth the wait.

Bought 2, returned 1 for replacement
The product was simple to use, colors are bright and nice, sound active was decent, but one LED bar had one defective block - displays red/green when it should be all red or all green. My initial thought was to cut my loses and get a refund, but i paid $20 in taxes and $40 in shipping and you dont get those back in a refund. Besides i liked them enough anyway so i opted to get a replacement for the defective one. I will update my review later after i get the replacement, to be fair to monoprice.

Fun but not super bright
Now for $70, I have to say I did not have any expectations whatsoever. I bought this for a fun ambiance for my music setup. And it is fine for that. I just would caution against anybody thinking these might be actually good for stage lights. They are about a quarter the brightness you'd need for that. Fun toy at an appropriate price.
Positives:
-You can choose an RGB mix for the strobe program
-Lightweight
-Controls are on the top/bottom not the back like a lot of light bars
-Cheap enough that you can buy multiples for stronger light
-Sound activated programs seem to work well for straight out the box use
