Yes. Simply plug your speaker cable (not instrument) into one of the 8 ohm speaker jacks. The labeling on the back of this amp is a bit confusing, it will be either one of the left jacks as you look at it from the back, and then the other end into either of the jacks on the back of the cabinet. Do this before you power on your amp; never run a tube amp without a load, ie. speaker cabinet plugged in.

Depends on the ohms required of you head. the extension speaker is 8 ohms. If your head requires 16 ohms, it won’t be good. Also it is a 60 watt speaker so it is ok if the head is maxed a 50 watts. The most important thing is to match the ohms.

If you use two cabinets by cabling one from the output of one cabinet to the input of the second cabinet will it still be 8ohms or will it be 4ohms ?
James S
on Aug 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The cabinet outputs are wired in parallel, so connecting two cabinets halves the ohm rating to 4 ohms. I added a jack to create a series output to double the ohm rating of the two cabinets to 16 ohms. By doing this I can use both cabinets in series with an amplifier head with 8 ohm minimum output load rating.

2 8-ohms = 1 4-ohms. 2 16-ohms = 1 8-ohms. So if your amp is not rated to take 4 ohms I would not. If your amp is rated for 4 ohms you are safe. You never want to go below amps minimum ohms.

can this cab work with a 4ohm amp?
New User U
on Feb 27, 2021
BEST ANSWER: If your amp has a minimum load of 4ohms, then the 8 ohm monoprice cabinet should work fine. Some amplifiers would not be as loud into a higher load (8 ohms) as it takes more watts to push the same volume into a higher load.

It should work fine, but wouldn't necessarily be the best option. Your amps wattage rating is based on that impedance and a change in impedance might affect the output power. Normally an amp into a cab with a higher impedance is safe. What you need to worry about is plugging into a cab with a lower impedance than the amp because that might potentially blow something up. So sure you can, but it might not sound quite as good, or loud as a 4 Ohm cab.

How to use the output on the speaker cab?
New User U

BEST ANSWER: If you have a second speaker cabinet you can connect it's input to the output of this first cabinet with speaker cabinet connecting cable. But if you don't have a second speaker cabinet, that's ok, you don't need to be concerned about the output..
Here's a bit of additional information: don't use guitar cables to connect your speakers to your amplifier, the power drain would burnout the amplifier. So you must use the speaker cable that came with the amp or order cables that are for connecting amplifiers to speaker cabs.

There's no documentation, and I haven't opened it up. But, best I can tell, it's simply wired in parallel with the input. So you could use it to daisy-chain another speaker, keeping in mind that adding another 8 ohm speaker to the chain will drop the impedance your amp is seeing from 8 ohms to 4 ohms. I suppose you could also use it to go into a direct box.

There is no real in or out it is a parallel connection. One speaker it is 8 Ohms plug in a second speaker (Amp to speaker to speaker = 4 Ohms if both are 8 ohms) the second 1/4" jack or out if you like is for a second speaker. Please always try to use the same Ohm and wattage when connecting a second speaker.

Amp specs state amp is rated for 8-16 ohm loads. If jacks were parallel, (2) 8ohm Celestion Vin30's would present a 4 ohm load, which would blow the amp. I'm sure the designer/manufacturer knew that, and provided a series wiring configuration..... so you can buy 2 of their cabs without fear!

I don’t know but it sounds great. Bigger & heavier cab than I thought it would be. Big improvement over the 70/80 in the 15wamp. How can you tell if it’s a redesigned speaker?

can I use monoprice 15 watt tube amplifier to power monoprice 1 x12 guitar speaker cabinet?
A shopper
on Jan 29, 2024
BEST ANSWER: I believe the Monoprice 15Watt tube amp is a combo amp that includes its own 8 ohm speaker. Although it has a speaker out jack, when you plug in an external speaker cabinet it disables the internal speaker. So yes you can use the Monoprice 15W tube amp to power this speaker cab but only 1 speaker will be active at a time. This is because the 15W tube amp can only handle an 8 ohm speaker load, so it disconnects the internal speaker to protect itself when using the external speaker jack.

Yes and it will likely sound better because the bottom has a better Vintage 30 speaker. I have the old Monoprice 15 watt amp, and while it's my backup amp, it sounds very good. Its transformers are not as powerful as some other 15-20 watt amps, but for the price, I can't think of a better value.

That's what I'm doing. Works great. I'd also recommend a BanTamp amplifier as well and they're around $150.00. You'll love this cabinet, I do. I also push it with a Kustom 16r amp external speaker line. and it works just fine.

Will this work with a joyo bantamp atomic?
A shopper
on Jun 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, very well at that. This is a 8ohm speaker and your Joyo speaker output is compatible with 8 and 16 ohm. Great speaker. Just think about location of speaker. Dont stick it on the floor unless you angle it up towards your ear. Move it around in the corner or a couple feet of the wall. It is a good speaker so move it around until you find your sweet spot.

A Great Cabinet But a Tad Large
I like the tone I get from this speaker and I know that the cabinet has an influence on that tone, but while not being an audio engineer, I'd like to submit that I wish that the cabinet size was about 2-4 inches smaller than it is now in all dimensions. It would just make it a bit easier to haul to shows. Otherwise I am happy with it!

IMO it's the best V30 112 cab for the price.
Pros,
1. I got this on sale at a great price with an additional promo code for more savings.
2. It's loaded with the newer V30s with the clear cap that sounds better than the V30s made from 2006 to 2022.
3. It's a well made cab that's sturdy and easily gig worthy.
4. This cab can easily keep up with drummer because the well pronounced mids and tight low end.
5. It has an additional 1/4 inch jack to slave another 112 cab.
6. It's 1/4 ported which doesn't effect the sound a lot, but you can always go to the hardware store and get the things needed to seal it for a full closed back.
7. This is the biggest pro. It's an 8ohz speaker which means it will sound better than the 16ohz speakers.
8. This is cheaper than go through Thomman's for their Harley Benton cabs because of the current S/H and the Monoprice have the cab slave option unlike Harley Benton.
Cons to be fair,
1. It's a Chinese made V30, not UK. Then again the best V30s were made well over 2 decades ago and does sound better than the V30s made 2 years ago.
2. It's not 100% closed back, but then again that's something most people could do on their or hire a pro to do it for them.
3. Lastly it's partly made of MDF wood, this may upset some tonewood elite slobs.
This is the second 112 V30 I got from Monoprice. I also own a Monoprice 212 V30 combo. Between the two I prefer the 112 or better yet both 112s slaved into a 212 because the better midrange and tighter lows of the 8ohz V30s. I may just keep 212 cab and just add a new speaker or 2.
