Can you use this with a keyboard?
Gene L
on Jan 16, 2022
BEST ANSWER: That is precisely what I used the one I bought for... Obviously this amp is not large and extremely powerful, but I'm using it in a 6pc band setting and it's working, especially well as the onstage keyboard monitor. There is a line out to connect to the PA for larger venues.

I see no problem using this amp with a keyboard. I use mine with mostly electric guitar in a practice situation. If you're planning on playing out on a gig, though, you're going to want something bigger, in my opinion.

Yes. Anything that plugs in with a 1/4" plug (like a guitar cable) or an XLR connector (like a microphone cable). It has pretty good range so a keyboard would sound good through this.

Gene, I don't own a keyboard so I can't say for sure but I don't see why not. You might need to get an impedance adapter but that wouldn't be a major expense. -Ed

Can you use a microphone in any channel/input?
A shopper
on Jun 17, 2022
BEST ANSWER: A mic w/ a 1/4" plug will work in the 1/4" (guitar) channel. We use the Stage Right cordless mic going into the 1/4" channel. If I were to put a mic into channel "One" -- the XLR input -- I'd run it through a simple preamp or mixer first. Just my humble opinion.

With an adapter, you could plug a microphone into the guitar channel, but it's designed to use an XLR cable plugged directly into the microphone channel. It will sound the best by using it as it was designed.

There is only one mic input (XLR)... the other two inputs are unbalanced and won't work well with mics even if you had the connectors to make it work.

No, the effects (i.e. reverb and chorus) will affect both the guitar and voice. To get separate effects, the two-speaker version should be used.

what 8in. speaker brand is in amp monoprice or celestion ?

BEST ANSWER: I think only monoprice could say for sure. There are no stamps or stickers anywhere on the driver. This is a speaker designed for its intended purpose. Definitely doesn't sound like an electric guitar speakers. I have a cabinet with celestian 8-15 speakers and there is a clear difference in the sound.

The back of this combo is sealed so I can't see the manufacturer of the speaker. I would guess it's Monoprice because they are so good at making the same thing as other manufacturers but less expensive. The sound is comparable to the 10 inch generic speaker in my Fender Frontman 25.

Not sure of the brand, but I can almost guarantee it is not a Celestion. An 8" Celestion would cost more than the whole amp.

The specs state "20 Watts at 4 Ohms". I guess that means both channels driven simultaneously you might hit 20 Watts on the peaks maybe? With just the 1/4 phone (Guitar) channel driven you would get 10 Watts maximum? Does that sound about right to you Owner/Operators?
Thanks,
michael

BEST ANSWER: No, the available power output of the amp is 20W. That is dependent on the input signal strength driving the power amp section. The number of channels, or signals inputted has nothing to do with the power available.

No, it's two channels mixed into a single (mono) 20 watt power section. You have 20 watts (I assume RMS) whether you use one or both channels.

Radio interference and cosmetic faux leather defects… I just got mine, and it picks up the local radio station as soon as I plug in a cable to any jack, mic or guitar. Anyone else get radio interference? Also my faux leather has badly cut corners/fold with gaps, where two leather edges meet there are gaps. Anyone else?

BEST ANSWER: Just received mine a week ago or so, there's been no radio interference on my end at all.
The sound is very clean and performs way better than I initially expected for the price.
The amp arrived in pristine condition with the exception of a heavily oxidized top screw.
Try another instrument cable to see if you can pinpoint the root cause.

How does the sound compare to “Stage Right by Monoprice 40-Watt, 1x10 Guitar Combo Amplifier with Spring Reverb”?
Business A
on Apr 27, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Comparing the frequency response of an acoustic amp vs electric amp, electric guitar amps tend to have more or less pronounced mid-range. They'll often alter the tone more than the guitar itself. Acoustic amps, on the other hand, are designed to work with an acoustic guitars natural tone without altering it too much. Its nearly perfect for its size and price
Excellent concept and execution - and I have 38 years in Guitar amplifier design. Needs more power; could use some EQ tricks to conserve what power it does have.
Monoprice did not mention a really nice feature - a butt plug stand receiver in the bottom of the amplifier which allows use on a speaker stand.

Surprisingly good
I just got this amplifier yesterday and I took it through an hour long test. It is very solidly made, it has a genuinely good sound. I play guitar in church so I don?t need a lot of volume. I just need to be able to keep up with piano and light drums. It?s absolutely perfect for that. I play an acoustic guitar with a condenser mic pick up that has very high fidelity. The amp reproduces the sound very faithfully., much better than my electric guitar amp. If I needed more volume it has a line out that could go directly to the sound system. I highly recommend it.
