    Tube Overdrive Mini Pedal

Add overdrive to your pedal board with this Tube Overdrive Mini Pedal from Monoprice!

This mini pedal produces a simulated tube response for a warm, vintage sound. At low drive settings, it generates a vacuum tube-like overdrive effect, while at high drive settings it generates a screamer clipping-fuzz effect. The pedal features true bypass, so it won't alter your tone when not actively in use.

The casing is metal for long term durability. It is powered using a 9VDC power adapter with a negative tip/center, such as our 9V Power Supply for Guitar Pedals (PID 611690). Note that the manual erroenously lists the DC connector size as 3.5/1.1mm. The connector is actually 5.5/2.1mm, which is the same as that of the 611690 power supply. The manual will be updated and posted here as soon as possible.

Input 1/4" monaural TS jack (impedance: 10 megohms)

Can you operate the pedal from a 9v battery?
    Jay H on Nov 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I recently bought this pedal. No there is not a battery option on this mini size pedal.
It sounds great and you can’t beat the price.
Curious how this sounds on a clean solid state amp. Has anyone tried it? Even better if you've tried it with a tele or tele style guitar.
    A shopper on Aug 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have not used it with a tele. But with my strat it sounds good through a solid state amp. It seems to provide more distortion than true overdrive. On higher gain settings it even enters fuzz pedal territory. I have tried it with humbuckers as well and it can get a bit muddy if you use much gain. So really depends on what you want. But for the price it is quite decent.
All your pedals do not come with the 9v power supply, correct?
    Abram G on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. Yes that is correct, the power supply (Product # 611690) will need to be purchased separately which can be found here: https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=115&cp_id=11501&cs_id=1150108&p_id=611690&seq=1&format=2

Sounds as good as a TS-808
I used to own a reissue of the original TS-808 and this thing sounds as good as that pedal did. It actually sounds better with my strat than my King of Tone pedal from Analogman.... I literally replaced my King of Tone overdrive with this thing yesterday for a gig next week. I powered this pedal with my onespot and it was completely silent. I don't play noiseless single coils either so I think it's safe to say this pedal is quiet, no humming or buzzing at all in my experience. Play this baby with a decent tube amp and a strat and it sounds very SRV like, set the Gain at about 9 O'clock and turn the level up past 12 o'clock to your liking.

    PROS: Price
    Sounds good
    Bright LED
    Low/High knobs
    Sounds great

CONS: Not completely metal, but at this price I'm not sure you can really complain about that.

May I say, as good as Ibanez Tube Screamer
I have an Ibanez Tube Screamer ( the original Overdirve pedal), and this pedal sounds as good or maybe even better than the original real thing. The tone adjustment is helpful when switching between Humbucker and single coil pick-ups, since single coils can sound a bit thin without adjusting the tone, and having tone adjustments on the actual pedal, saves you from re-adjusting your amplifier (finding that sweet spot for the tone controls on your amplifier can be a tedious, time consuming exercise if you are as particular as I am). This thing works great in a tube based amplifier. I have not tried it in a transistor based amp. I love the tiny size, since real estate on my pedal board is always at a premium. All I can say is, if you are looking for a "REAL" Tube Overdirve Pedal, that gives honest "Overdrive" tone, then this will fulfill that search. At Monoprice's price, just buy it. Don't forget the power supply (not included with the pedal) .

PROS: Warm, creamy overdirve with lots of articulation. Tone adjustments are a great touch, and level adjustment allows for use as a rhythm effect, or turn up the level for a solo boost pedal.

CONS: That Monoprice didn't make this thing available earlier.

Most fun you can have for $30 without getting arrested
Not a lot of pedals inspire me to pick up my guitar. This one does. Playing my SG (with mini humbuckers) through this and into my cheap Fender Champ 100?

Sounds amazing. Nice distortion when you want it, and the guitar screams when you want it to. I have to be careful when I mess around with it, because I invariably end up spending way too much time playing.

Haven't noticed the noise that others have talked about, it's fairly quiet to me.

Do other pedals sound better? Maybe. But the ones that sound slightly better probably aren't $30. Skip a hamburger out and a couple of beers with it, and buy this pedal. It's a no-brainer.

    Little Green Monster
I've been using the overdrive pedal daily for just over two weeks. The pedal was smaller than what I would have expected but that isn't a bad thing. I was able to add it to an already full pedal board with ease. Remember too that this pedal doesn't take a battery so you will need a power supply of some sort. I'm using a filtered Joyo power supply and do not get any unwanted hum out of the pedal when in use. However, when I just used the monoprice 9v power supply I did get quiet a bit of hum and hiss (old home wiring), so its best to use a filtered power supply. Tones are great and exceeded my expectations at the price point, you'll need to spend at least double to get anything similar from a different brand. For the price this pedal is well worth a go, enjoy!

PROS: Metal casing, over driven tones that make me happy, relatively low price point, small form factor

    Screaming Demon
    Sounds great

PROS: small footprint, BIG SOUND! Well made. Inexpensive. Delivers a great sound, I can not tell any difference from Brand name versions of Tube Screamers.

    CONS: None

Definitely a contender in this price range
This pedal has a very good sound, particuarly at this price point. It's got very little noise while 'on' but not playing the guitar. The only nit is the 'plastic sidewalls' of the thing. Otherwise, this is a strong contender in the 'budget 808 overdrive pedal sweepstakes'.

PROS: Has a fairly buttery sound.

    CONS: Plastic side construction.

This pedal does the job, it is a little noisy when compared to the TS, but for the price you get some nice overdrive and boost.

    Sounds good
It's hotter than you would expect. It can really scream. But keep the dials low and it's a nice pick up.

Noisy in more ways than one.
Wanted to like this small footprint, inexpensive overdrive. Pretty noisy pedal, which in general is not that unexpected in an overdrive pedal, but it's a bit much for my taste. The low rating however is mostly due to some weird shielding issue whereby any tapping on the case (even just moving the cable attached) can be clearly heard on the amp. Too bad, as it is otherwise built solidly.

    PROS: Inexpensive, small footprint, solid.

CONS: Noisy in more ways than one.

I was interested in getting something might mimic a Tube Screamer and THIS was no exception. This thing flat out RULES for the price. Small, simple and EFFECTIVE. I am so happy I bought this. I goes great with my Baritone LTD.
