Can you clip it on to the guitar where the running keys are and it work the same?
A shopper

BEST ANSWER: I think you mean the tuning keys? Yes, it works, quality will vary according to the the guitar, the sound will probably not be the same as near the soundhole but the pickup is very microphonic and will transmit a lot of sound. Good for miking percussion also, for $5 it's worth it.

It will work and sound different depending on where you clip it. For the best sound it should be on the main body of the instrument

Yes, it clips onto the headstock. Doesn't seem to matter much where on the headstock.
Nice item to have, great price too.

I don’t know what running keys are. But to works like a clip on tuner, clipping it to your headstock may work.

You have to clamp it to the headstock to make it work well. Wood on one side, wood on the other.

Given the below information is this a microphone or a high impedance pickup for an electric guitar interface. Bears the question will this configuration get groady to the max or will the STi122x2 max capabilities better with a different pick-up?
Re: STi12 2x2 Can I attach two microphones instead of a microphone and an instrument?
Paul R on Dec 12, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Input 2 is not a microphone input; it's for a high-impedance instrument (guitar pickup) or line level. This input has much less gain than the mic input, and has no phantom power so a condenser microphone will not work plugged into input 2. If you plug in a dynamic microphone into input 2, it will work but it will be at a low level. It might work for a loud source such as close miked drums or a guitar cabinet.

Good for the price but not professional quality (well duh)
For the price it?s unbeatable. But it can be pretty low volume and can be noisy if you move around a lot and it?s not clipped tight. Overall though not bad, I bought 2. If you?re looking for live and professional I?d check elsewhere. For a fun pickup to clip on random stuff such as a Cajon or a ukelele. Not bad.

Good for tuning not for amplifying
This pickup worked well for plugging into my tuner but was worthless as an actual pickup for amplifying sound. Too weak and tinny.

Did not work for me.
It failed to work with the Danelectro amplifier/speaker that came with my Martin Backpacker. I reached out and tried to learn about the impedance of the pickup, reasoning it might be a mismatch. Nobody replied to my queries. I don't have time trying to track down somebody who will 'own my problem' and tell me what to do.

positioning is tricky
It works great, but there are two considerations 1) where to clip it on and 2) where the cord is going to run. Since it was in the way clipping it in the sound hole, I clipped it on up by the tuning pegs. This resulted in a cord ... not where I'm used to having a cord ...

captures the harmonic frequency range rather well with no spurrious interference replicates the actual sound of the strings without added noise

Works For Mandolin
I bought this pickup for recording mandolin and it works much better than I thought it would. I just clamp it on the headstock and it works great. I don't know about durability because the cord is flimsy, but you can't go wrong for the price. I also don't know if would be good for live performance because it's not heavy duty.

Good little microphone.
Looks exactly like the pictures, picks up the sound well and does the job. I don't like the omnipresent "good for the price" but there's no way to do better for this price or even more expensive. Good purchase.

Great clip on Pickup
This clip on Pickup is an amazing simple way to amplify your
sound like it has a built in electronics, plug it into a mixer or
guitar amp and it sounds very good and you can sit next to
the amp or mixer zero feed back the sound is better than built
in electronics.
P.A.
