Are the p 90 pickups noisy when not in the center position?
A shopper
on Jan 11, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Lining the body cavity with either copper foil or shielding paint will greatly reduce the 60hz hum for which single coil pickups are well known. Painting is probably less frustrating or the two, and copper foil seems to work a bit better. Be aware that the foil is usually quite thin with an adhesive on one side covered with a paper backing you'll need to remove. Getting used to working with it take a bit of time, but is well worth the effort. Painting is simpler, but unless the routed area has been painted (often not) You'll probably need two coats, and it'll take some time. I love this guitar!

I have the same problem, It is very stressful to have to re-coat everything and have that noise be the same and more noticeable, since the static is not there and the noise is louder than the pickups. Where are the heroes in these problems?Enter an answer to this question.

Yes. But that is the nature of single coil pickups, and even more so with P90 pickups. I added some copper shielding tape to the body cavity and that helps some. Playing live they sound great. If recording you can use a noise gate.

Not particularly but they are single coil, there's going to be some noise. They sound great though.

Does the tremolo have the same Trem-Lock feature the original Fender Jazzmaster had? If it doesn't, is the tremolo down-only (flat) or up-and-down (sharp and flat)?

BEST ANSWER: The bridge is decked meaning the trem only goes flat. There is no trem lock feature.

In the offset OS40 model, what kind of bar magnets are used in the pickups - Alnico or Ceramic?
A shopper
on Aug 21, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It actually says “ceramic” under the “Full Specs” tab., running at 7.8k (neck) and 9.2k (bridge). Curious about this model, as I like the funky midrange of P-90/JazzMaster style pickups. How does this thing hold tune, especially after mild tremolo bar usev

They are ceramic. But they are well balanced with one an other and more articulate than some P90 pickups.
I was going to swap out the magnets with some alnico 5s, but actually I love the way these sound. So, I left them as is.

Mine has done far better holding tune than you'd expect in this price range, and been outstanding at maintaining pitch after use of the trem.

I just received my OS40 DLX Plus today and cannot figure out how to install the tremolo arm. The one that came with the guitar is not threaded at all and seems too thick to fit in the receiver. Does this sound correct or is mine defective?

I just received my Offset OS40 DLX Plus guitar and seem to have an issue installing the tremolo bar. The end of the bar has absolutely no threading and does not taper at all, and is too thick to fit into the hole in the bridge. Did I get a defective piece or am I missing how it installs?

Good sound, needed fretwork
The pickups sound great and the body is pretty good quality. However, some dead spots in the neck because of several high frets. Needed a luthier's attention to be playable.

sweet deal
I got this after an astounding sale-price OS40 didn't get delivered. I'ts sweet! This is like my 8th guitar purchase from Monoprice, so my wife wants me to get rid of some.

Nice
Nice guitar. Of course, it does require a setup and fretwork.

Stabilize that noisy bridge
The rocker bridge annoyed me, although I understand what Leo was thinking (get Bigsby-depth vibrato cheaply). It would often start buzzing (it's the bridge inside the "thimbles" doing that) when it rested near the side. This happens on the original, that company sells a plastic stabilizing insert, but that would dampen the most important part of the guitar. So I found and cut the perfect dimension steel tubing to stabilize it without dampening (or replacing) the bridge. And cut some intonation screws to avoid sitar sounds and added longer saddle height grubs on the ends (better than shims). I also put in locking tuners and got an antique white tremelo bar tip to match the rest (it was white on my natural guitar). Strap locks (a bit noisy but this guitar is heavy as it should be). The guitar sounds and plays terrific now, and the stabilized trem keeps in tune and gives enough range for my needs. Great deal overall.

Great playing guitar and P90 sound
This is the only guitar I have with these pick ups. But the guitar as a whole is really nice looking and playing. The natural wood grain is not flat looking like the pictures (thank goodness) but has a very nice gloss overcoat that shines in the light and feels wonderful.
I really like this offset feel too. Comfortable and nice rich sound.

setup by a luthier?
Mine came with no real flaws other then setup but, the truss rod was loose, bridge radius was way off, action 1/4 off the neck and although not as bad as my other cheaper Indios, fret ends needed work. The hight E string broke the first day due to an overly snug nut slot. Plays nice now, after 2 hours of setup work.

Great deal
Love this! It's better than I had anticipated. The frets are a little sharp and the neck is every so slightly thicker than my previous guitar but it sounds and feels great. Well worth it.

Love it!
Love the guitar. The P90/soapbar pickups are gnarly. This is truly the golden age of "budget" guitars and this one does not disappoint. Fit and finish are flawless, fretwork is terrific and setup was really good. I did a bit of minor tweaking and am very happy with the result.
My only complaint is the tremolo bar was not included and after about 3 emails to customer service with no response I've kind of given up. I expect I can find one elsewhere that should work.
