Does this guitar have a solid spruce of just a "spruce" top which means it is laminated? Your ad says it both ways.

Does this have a plastic pick guard? There's no pick guard in the picture, but one of the reviewers uploaded a picture of his guitar, which did have a pick guard.

Monoprice Has Another Hit!
Solid spruce top, great price, what's not to like? Put Slinky 10's on it, tuned it in perfect 4ths, and I have an acoustic blues machine. Thanks Monoprice. Love it!

Put aside the name on the headstock; it's a great value
I've been playing guitar, mostly electric, for about 20 years. I'd kind of wanted to get back into some acoustic sounds, and I saw this Monoprice guitar and took a chance on it. For the price, I'm very glad I did. Putting aside the name on the headstock, this is a very good guitar for the money. The intonation is very close (but not perfect). The fretwork is good (could have been polished a bit more, and bending feels a tiny bit gritty; there will likely be some sprout as it ages and dries out - you can just begin to feel the edges of some of the frets). It feels good to play and the action is reasonably low. The neck is straight, but not enough to produce fret buzz. The strings it comes with are a bit on the heavy side. It's loud, responsive, and harmonics sound good.
For me, this is a great guitar to keep out in the living room or take places, without worrying too much if it gets banged up. I'd also recommend it as a starter guitar: I had no buzzy frets, no choked out action, etc., so it had nothing that would making learning to play unpleasant (aside from the higher gauge strings, which can be changed - but it's not bad to build up that finger strength early, either). For a guitar under $100, including a decent gig bag, spare strings, a tuner, etc., this really checks all the boxes. The guitar even looks decent, as much as I'd prefer the headstock, sides, and back to have more of the classic dark coloration.
I've recently played a guitar from a similar kit produced by a big brand, and while I was also very pleasantly surprised with what you can get with a starter guitar these days (versus 20 years ago), that big-name guitar needed fret leveling badly enough that the b and g strings were not really usable from the 12th-14th frets - not an issue I had here. Despite the lower cost, I'd prefer this Monoprice guitar.

Best Budget, Best Intermediate, Best Professional
This is absolutely the best buy in guitars right now. This is my 2nd acoustic guitar from Monoprice and the are absolutely fantastic. Setup was spot on, fit and finish was very professional and the sound is beautiful. I ended up donating it to my local music conservatory. In fact, I would be OK with ordering 10 or more of these guitars and donating them because they are THAT good. I would not have any qualms about giving it to anyone sight unseen because I know that Monoprice packs them very well and are inspected for defects before being packed and shipped.

Bought this for my son for a Christmas present. He said he wanted to start playing the guitar. Very nice Guitar. No set up needed at all. Put a set of Ernie ball Silk n Steel strings on it 10's.Lowered the action down significantly. Just by putting these on. Made it very easy to play. These strings have low tension tension and helped lower the action. The guitar was flawless in finish and sounded great.Very good purchase. Nice case and accessories. Everything he needed to get started. Perfect for beginner player. Great price. It was on sale.

Not bad for the price
Not a bad guitar for $99.00! It is a little muffled(soft) sounding, but it is what I expected for the price. Nicely built and is just something to sit and pick on in an open tuning. I am going to buy the pricier ($249?) acoustic next and compare them. This one does hold its tuning and came out the box ready to play.

Great Value for a Great Guitar!
Very happy with the guitar, especially for the price. And when it?s on sale, it?s even better! Nice tone, no buzzes, excellent craftsmanship as far as I can tell. Very nice soft case, too.
