From the photos, this appears to have a glossy neck; can anyone verify?

BEST ANSWER: Just recently I bought the blue Helix and to answer your question, the neck is not glossy. It has a maple neck that make it easy to slide up and down the neck. You get for what you pay for and this was a very good purchase for the price tag and I would purchase this Helix again.

The neck is not glossy. It appears to have a lightly finished satin neck. A good YouTube review can be found here:

The one i have has a satined neck. If any gloss must be due to fine sanding of the wood.

the high is usually for sharper sound if you want one more mellow sound plug it in the low and if you want more attack push that button in

No Longer Available - Would have been nice to know
I ordered the purple Indio by Monoprice Helix Flamed Maple Electric Guitar with Gig Bag, and the order was accepted, and payment processed. The web page said the item would be shipped the next day, but after closer to ten days, I contacted Monoprice for an update. I was told that they were in the process of moving warehouses, and the item would ship shortly. Another week went by and I received an email stating that the item is no longer available, and a refund would be issued.

Brilliant value
It came setup very well. Perfectly intoned and nice low action. I haven't noticed any fret buzz yet at all. No sharp fret burrs along the edge of the neck, although the frets are a bit scratchy and will need a tiny bit of smoothing.
This neck isn't a baseball bat like the Monoprice strats. Not super-ultra-thin, but IMO just right thickness. Pretty much the shape I sanded my Monoprice strat down to be!
No physical blemishes at all, no poor screw slots, no nicks or scratches, no ugly joints along any of the binding edges. Whoever's doing the factory work for Monoprice seems to be doing a bang-up job.
I got the purple flame. Not super flamey, and a bit darker than I see on the page, but a better color than shown also (computer screens render differently, too, so what YOU see may be exactly what you get).
Weight and balance are perfect. Extremely comfortable guitar. No long stretch with my left arm to play up at the nut. Body contour is really comfortable.
Decent padded gig bag, too. Decent job on the zipper stitching, and it has a big, rugged zipper, unlikely to get jammed or break over time. I use a case for gigging, but the bag will work for storage quite well.
I can't speak to the pickup tones yet, or electronics. Haven't plugged it in. If I don't care for them, I'll upgrade.
I've not tried the whammy bar yet. Nut slots look a little tight on the strings, so I may need to widen them or upgrade the nut to something better. The bridge came floating, and since I don't actually use a whammy much, I may just not bother doing anything to improve tuning stability there.
I'll probably upgrade the tuning machines to locking tuners, simply because I find them worth the minor investment (I've no troubles with the $30 GFS locking tuners I've installed).

I like the sound of the bridge pickup. I really like the feel and performance of the trem unit.
Only minus is a couple of high fret spots but imma wait a while b 4 tackling that cause of new climate 4 this guitar, best 2 wait a month or so.
Good all around vslue.
