My friend swapped in the Seymour Duncan Scooped Strat style with no problem but to use the Little 59 Strat or Hot Rails you'd have to enlarge the pickguard pickup mount holes

What is the nut width on this guitar? Not the width of neck at nut, but the actual nut width, top to bottom in millimeters or inches (i.e. 1.65", 1.685", 1.625"). Thank you

Great beginner guitar
I ordered the natural color as something to play around with having never tried to play guitar before. It looks great in person and is made of three pieces of wood joined evenly as thirds of the guitar body, and good chunks of it you can't tell where the joins are between pieces because the grain aligns. Mine doesn't have any defects that I can tell and sounds great. I've tried some basic setup steps based on internet searching and overall am very pleased with the product.

Not perfect, but still a great value.
The guitar is heavier than my 66 DLX Plus, which surprised me. The guitar came out of the box with nice fret work and no sharp fret ends. The guitar also had none of the green corrosion my 66 DLX Plus had on the frets. The truss rod was maxed out resulting in a back bow and tons of string buzz. Once I adjusted the neck flat, I had to lower some string saddles and raise some others to match the radius of the neck. Once I did that with the supplied Allen wrench, the guitar plays really nicely. However, because of the amount of work it needed, I don't think it would be an appropriate piece for beginners or kids looking for a first guitar unless they're willing to invest the time into learning to set a guitar up. Monoprice claims these guitars are set up by master Luthiers in California, I think that is bunk.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how resonant the guitar is unplugged. As far as the pickups are concerned, the first, second, and fourth switch positions have no hum, while the third and fifth positions have a hum, which to me means only the neck pickup is actually noiseless. It sounds good in positions 1-4 in terms of tone, but I'm not in love with the bridge pickup by itself.
The body of my guitar is comprised of three pieces of ash. On the back of the guitar, the bottom piece has a knot in the wood where a small crack in the finish about 1/2 an inch long developed (probably during storage). If I had paid full price, I'd have sent it back. However, at just over $100 ($137.99 on sale minus 25% coupon code) I'm gonna keep the guitar and the crack should be a relatively easy fix.
I had originally purchased this guitar as a modding platform, however I don't think there is an immediate need for any of the things I was planning to do to it The tuners are fine, although I might upgrade to locking tuners in the future. I may also upgrade that bridge pickup to a rail humbucker. The strings are fine, and the perfect weight for a stratocaster style guitar. The pick guard is nice and thick, and has one of the nicer tortoise shell patterns I've seen outside of a Fender or G&L. Overall, I think this guitar will serve me well.

Specs have changed. 5-piece body looks like a floor. Heavy. 6 point trem.
As others have stated, they changed the formula on this model. I only paid about $100 and it's ok for that price. The Ash body is 5 planks of wood. It looks like a floor. It's very heavy. The pickups were installed wrong, there is only hum canceling in position 2. I think this means they put the middle pickup in the bridge position. I actually kinda like it for some reason. The nice 2-point trem is long gone from this model and the cheaper 6-point trem bridge is ok. Full-size block. Tuners seem good. Setup not bad out of the box. Overall it's pretty meh and not significantly better than their cheaper version of this guitar.
Given the significant changes to the features, they really should have given this a new model and product number. Using the reviews of a different guitar to sell this one is confusing at the very least. For this reason I give it one star.

Better than Expected!
I sent the guitar back because it had two stain marks on the front of the guitar that should have been wiped off prior to putting the clear coat on. The rest of the guitar was rock solid. The set up was right on. All I had to do was tune the guitar. The Wilkinson Trem was great. The Wilkerson pick ups were better than I expected. The guitar had outstanding sustain with no hum. I was shocked. The guitar is pretty heavy. Since I do most of my playing sitting down, that is not a problem. The tuners were OK provided you did not use the whammy bar. I was planning on upgrading the nut, tuners and pick ups anyway. The overall build of the guitar was very good. Especially for the money. That's why I ordered another one in the Red Cherry Burst color. I would have kept the original guitar if it did not have the two stains on the body.

Well Made, Great Sound
This guitar has a beautiful finish and feels more like an instrument that should cost hundreds more. I found it very naturally playable right out of the box (well, after a little tuning). It does seem that the strings have a bit of a ?wear in? period - requiring frequent tuning for the first few hours of play. If I were a performer, I?d get it through this phase prior to arriving on stage with it. One may also want a more substantial case if this is going on tour - the gig bag is nice for protection between sessions, but the instrument is a little heavy for the bag to adequately protect it during extended travel.

Great value, great looks, great sounds
This guitar is a fantastic instrument for the price. The components are excellent quality for this price range and the build quality is outstanding. The fret edges are very smooth, and did I mention that the instrument is gorgeous? Well, it is. The only downside is that the volume control is linear rather that audio taper, but that can be easily and cheaply changed if you can solder. The set up was good, but a little tweaking of the truss rod was required to eliminate minor buzzing. I replaced the pickups with Seymour Duncan SSL- 1 units on the neck and middle, and it probably wasn't worth it - the stock pick-ups are quite good and there was very little difference. Thanks to Monoprice for making inexpensive but good quality guitars.

Cali DLX
Very good guitar for the at a bargain price.
It does have a few minor issues : Fret sprout , gritty frets , abrupt vol. control taper. , but overall it rivals my genuine MIM Fender and I actually prefer the radius ( 12" I think ) better than my Fender. It is heavy , which may contribute to it's impressive resonance. Wood sections did not have the best matching , but it is still very attractive .

Humbled and speechless - a must buy IMHO.
Bought this during the Thanksgiving sale at $183 + tax. This was my 4th Indio guitar purchase after their Indio Cali Classic, Retro Classic, and the Boardwalk deluxe. I have been impressed and rated every one of those guitars a 5-star - not because they were perfect; far from it - there were some obvious flaws - some that I could fix on my own, and some that I could live with. But in each one of those instances, they represented a great value for the $ paid.
The Cali DLX on the other hand left me completely speechless from the moment I unpacked it. The fret ends were dressed, no warping of the neck, no intonation issues, no cosmetic blemishes. I wasn't able to spot a single flaw that I could use as justification for the bargain price I paid. This is a great guitar - period. Other reviewers have already posted detailed point-by-point reviews of this guitar, and the fact that they have spent as much time and attention to the review indicates how much they thought this guitar was worthy of such investment.
Perhaps I was just lucky with the piece that I got. All in all, this will stay with me as part of my core collection of guitars that I will enjoy playing, hopefully for a long while. To all the people who lent a hand in building this guitar - a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart.
