    RIDE Cymbal Review
This sounds pretty darn good. Again, you can make the decision yourself by checking out the video. Opinions vary and you may like these. I personally like this ride as it has a nice bell tone and you could use it also for an accent crash.
extremely long sustain. Not saying that is bad, just something to be aware of. See the video to know what I mean.
    See Vid here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDLLZVLaTcA

PROS: Nice Bell tone, good attack when using stick tip.

    CONS: Nothing that stands out.

A whole landscape of tone goodness
I love this cymbal. The overtones after struck are very good. Definitely a deal on sale as I got mine, but well worth regular price too. It's my favorite ride cymbal!. I am not a drummer. This was a gift to my drummer. He loves it too!

A better grade and very inexpensive first ride cymbal
Weekend band drummer here, 40 plus years.
Pro grade cymbals are spendy, period. Cheap cymbals are often flimsy and sound horrible. This is different.

I bought this on a whim because of the 80/20 brass/tin ratio which is typically used in pro grade cymbals, and the very low price.

That composition results in a sturdy cymbal. Tone is better than 100% brass cymbals. I feel they are quite acceptable for a starter kit. The price is about 1/3 that of brand name beginner cymbal of the same size, and the name brands often don't sound much better. A full set (ride, crash, and hi hats) from Monoprice will cost about the same as a typical beginner ride cymbal (feel free do some googling to confirm this)

I would recommend this, and the other Monoprice cymbals as a "first drum kit" set. You'll save hundreds and will have something sturdy with the feel of a spendier set. And it looks very sharp.

I will use it for gigging. Not as my main ride but for variety. It does has a unique crash sound that I like.

Sounds just like the one in the video!
I bought this cymbal to add some sonic flavor to a little Ludwig bop kit I keep in a corner at the local saloon for Friday & Saturday open mike nights. Since the drum set came with only a hi-hat and small combo crash/ride there wasn't as much of a tone palette to play with for visiting drummers in comparison with their own kits. That translated to less fun for most of them so this was the best answer we could find to remedy that situation on a bass player's budget.

Since the bop set is a tad smaller than a normal drum kit, it is nice to have something with a larger sound, which this amply provides because of all the overtones it has compared to the old slightly smaller combo crash/ride. As illustrated in the video, this cymbal has a lot more sustain than many others out there. Not bad, per se, but something to be aware of.

    Great for price
I bought this for the 2nd kit in my practice room. Totally acceptable. Much better than anything else at this price. Why have students or my 11 yo beating on my good stuff! Got the 16" crash as well. Probably add the HHats at some point.

Not the best, but far better than many alternatives
I've had the privilege (misfortune?) of owning a number of budget ride cymbals before I built up my current collection (K con, K custom, HHX, Paiste Signature, Byzance, Dream). Unfortunately, unlike the wonderful Monoprice Hats that I also reviewed, this Monoprice ride does not compete at that level. But for the $20 I paid for them (on sale at the time)? They trounce the brass and B8 bronze toys that Sabian/Zildjian charge you $100 for. I don't find this ride particularly usable because it's too bright and the sustain is too long. Playing a busy phrase just results in a heavy, looooooong ring. But other than that, it isn't so bad. Mine came in at about 2200 grams, which is not unreasonably heavy for a 20" cymbal (although mine is closer to 19.5", on further inspection). And you feel some of that lightness in the tone. It's got some warmth, it's reasonably crashable. And that's awesome. I don't play rides that aren't crashable, which is one thing that really turned me off from the B8 rides that Zildjian and Sabian put out. Too heavy, too hard, no tapered edge. They make it that way so that they can get a nice ping (and because it's cheaper to not have to taper down a stamped B8 sheet cymbal) but it makes the crashes ugly thuds with insanely piercing high frequency noise. Comparably, this cymbal is much better behaved. This cymbal may be a bit of a simpleton, but you could do much worse for the money.

I'm only giving it 3 stars because I personally don't find it good enough to be usable (although I'm trying to re-hammer it into something usable), but if you're a beginner and you just want some cymbals to start out on, or you're looking to pick up a second ride on the cheap for a student kit or a practice kit while your main kit is boxed up or in the studio, this may be a ride worth considering. Obviously check out the used market, Wuhan, and Dream cymbals if you're on a budget (rather than brass or B8 cymbals from the Big 4). But for the $20 I paid for this cymbal, you definitely can't go wrong.
