Use a regular "patch" cable. A crossover cable would actually not work with the adapters.

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with the term poE. I use mine on either end of a 25 ft cat5 cable to hardwire my weather station downstairs to my pc upstairs so it will always be on line.

BEST ANSWER: I'm using them to extend keyboard and mouse over CAT5e and that works fine but it is only 35 feet. I would think it should work if you are not more than 50 to 75 feet but some items are finicky.

If your controller can communicate over usb 2.0, from my research this will work. At the controller end you just plug in your Xbox one cable which is usb to micro usb.

I use a standard B-Wired RJ45 Cat-6 Ethernet Cable. The only way to determine used or unused wires would be to remove (cut off) pairs and see if it still works. As USB is bi-directional, it would seem that they are using 1 pair to send and 1 pair to receive. However, unless you can contact the manufacturer you will have to do the sleuthing yourself. By the way, this USB Extender product works great! I run 100 feet of Cat-6.

BEST ANSWER: I tested with the Logitech C930e and it didn't work. I believe the extender is only rated for USB1 and that is too slow for a 1080p webcam signal.

This would work up to 150ft but would be limited to USB version 1.1 so you would want to make sure your thumb drive can work with that version of USB.

Does anyone know if this method will eliminate noise I get when connecting an audio mixer to the computer?
Michael C
on Feb 8, 2023
BEST ANSWER: If you are using unshielded CAT 5 or 6 cable, then there could be noise picked up by normal inductance. Usually we only run line level audio thru CAT cable but non-shielded cable gives us a hum or sometimes audio from other devices. These items work well for monitor and mouse extensions as well.

People have asked if it will send POE and the answer was no, however, I am wanting to ONLY send power. I don't care about network traffic at all. I have small wi-fi cameras that need power. They get power from a USB plug, but I only have Cat6 running to the camera location, so I was hoping to use these to carry that power. Has anyone done this with this extender?

I connected this for use with a printer across the house. Connected each end of the extender to a Cat 6 cable. When I connected the USB to the computer, the computer immediately recognized the printer. Just works. Buy one if you need it

Not ideal for data transfers.
It works,
When testing very slow transfer speeds of around 1MB/s. This is not ideal for data but worked well enough for a 720p webcam.
