BEST ANSWER: It will hold it but it may be a little wonky. I would use the more robust model.

Monoprice Sheet Music Stand
This isn't the best to hold that size iPad, its too top heavy. I used it to hold while flying a drone and it kept moving in a slight breeze.

I think you'd be better off with one of the "conductor stands" as they're much more stable

Can this be used as a desktop music stand (i.e. if we remove the base?)?

BEST ANSWER: I didn't think of that so I just tried it. I have to pull the top shaft all the way out, about 16" long from the tightening nut. Then set it on a table, tighten the nut and you're fine. I wouldn't put a heavy collection of music on it, but for lighter books and simple sheets, it works just fine.

It Will sit pretty low. With the basr on. Im not sure how you would get it to balance otherwise. But if i was thinking about using this on my desk it would work just fine all the way down. Hope this helps

Just don't extend the vertical rods and it will do well. There are also two flip out extenders to help support larger/taller pages.

Great and inexpensive music stand.
For the price this is a great music stand. It isn't for holding up a heavy binder of music, but great for a set list of songs, etc.

Perfect Choice
I purchased the music stand for my husband who had difficulty keeping his sheet music on a flimsy keyboard stand. I removed the flimsy piece from the keyboard and placed the well-made music stand just on the other side of the portable grand keyboard. It not only looks much better, it was the perfect solution!

Unbelievable!!!
More features than I knew. The travel case with velcro flap and shoulder strap was a nice surprise. Way above average. Adjustable 3 legs are stable. Three levels of vertical rods provide enough height for proper use. Can be used on floor or a table, etc. The stand itself also has spring loaded music "holders" which I wish other stands had. A real bargain. Very functional.

Weak but only holding paper.
It's just dinky. But works great. Has little paper holders and extenders to make bigger. Cheap!

Everything I wanted.
I don't have a lot of space, and this music stand doesn't need that much. It's light, it has nice page holders, and it's portable. It's everything I wanted.

Too flimsy
It barely holds upright. I do not trust it to hold a tablet without falling, so perhaps only for some music sheet print outs.

Disapointed. Cheaper than expected.
Bought 10 of these for a classroom set. At first, seemed great, but after a couple of months of use (1/week), most broke and only because of the plastic adjustment parts making them worthless. If the the plastic adjustment knobs and sleeves for the the vertical rise/lower were metal, these would stand the test of time and really be great.
