Yes. Windows version doesn't matter. It is simply the display cable from your device to the external monitor. As long as you have the proper ports, you should be good.

I have been using this cable on a Win10 machine for a few years to drive an older but high quality vga display as my secondary screen. It works fine.

BEST ANSWER: Correct, one end fits the VGA port of a monitor and the other fits the DisplayPort of the video card/computer. Was perfect for my 2-monitor setup - but in a newer machine, it may not as a single monitor. In my test, for whatever reason, the computer thought there was a monitor so no error beeps, but the monitor stayed asleep. But in my two-monitor setup the BIOS posts to only one monitor, so maybe there could be settings to change - of course if you don't have a monitor, you can't change BIOS settings... you need to have a monitor that can connect directly without an adapter type of cord.

No. An analog signal needs a converter to go to digital.

Works perfectly!
I previously had another adapter from a generic brand that wasn't working all the time. I had to unplug it a couple of time to finally get something on my monitor. I took a chance to replace it by a brand known to make good cable: Monoprice!
This one work like a charm every single time I use it. I come back from work and plug my laptop to my external monitor with it just work!
Thank you Monoprice for another great product!

Great for attaching your collection of older monitors
If you have been using computers for a decade or two, you probably have a collection of 75Hz VGA LCD monitors taking up space in your storage areas. Why not use one or two of them as side monitors to your main letterbox display screen? If you have a better VGA monitor which can physically rotate into Portrait aspect, even better! This cable will connect your modern graphics card to your older monitors without any issues.

Monoprice comes through again!
Just what I needed. This clean long cable replaces a collection of adapters and extensions. I'm running 1920x1200x60Hz to a Dell 24" display VGA input with no issues at all.
PROS: Well made adapter/cable assembly.
CONS: None. (Ok, they weren't free and they aren't as convenient as the alternative dual-DVI KVM I really wanted.)

It works!
This cable was the only thing that worked to properly connect my laptop to the small TV I was given for use as a monitor. Connecting via HDMI resulted in a *really* crappy-looking picture, as if each of the pixels was bleeding into the others.
About my Con regarding the bulge: The DisplayPort side of the adapter has a bulge on it. The function of the bulge *would seem* to be to click the plug into place when you plug it into the socket in order to prevent it from falling out accidentally. To unplug the adapter, you'd have to push down on the bulge before pulling it out of the computer. But the bulge does not press down easily (or at all?), so I'm not sure if I'm damaging my computer by pulling it out without fully depressing the bulge, or if the bulge doesn't serve that purpose at all. It doesn't seem to difficult to pull the plug out of my computer, so I'm tempted to think that the bulge is simply misleading/pointless.
PROS: Worked right away
CONS: Does the bulge on the DisplayPort side have a purpose??

Displayport Cable does its job.
I bought this to connect a VGA monitor to a computer at work that has a VGA and a displayport connectors. This allows me to have two monitors connected to the computer.
PROS: Arrived on time. Worked as soon as it was plugged in.

Great Cable as Always
I needed a full size displayport to VGA and this fit the bill! I am using it on my Lenovo X230 laptop dock and have had no issues outside of the one ghosing issue but I flipped my connections for dual monitors and the ghosting is not present on the other monitor so I do not suspect a cable problem!
So far it has been exactly what I was looking for at a great price!
PROS: Inexpensive
Decent quality molding and connectors
CONS: On one monitor had issue with ghosting but I was unable to determine if that was a cable or monitor issue. Working fine on all other monitors!

Works great on Dell 6420 e port plus repl
I was given a Dell Latitude 6420 laptop for work and a Dell E Port Plus Port Replicator. I wanted a 2 monitor setup and the monitors given to me were VGA only. Port replicator only had 1 vga, 2 dvi-d (which is digital only), 2 displayport. DVI-D to vga isn't as simple as an adapter as it needs to be converted from digital to analog (~$100 a piece). I wasn't familiar with the displayport interface but after some research online it seemed like this product might work for me. Luckily it does! I bought 2 of the 10' cables and hooked them up to the 2 displayport jacks on the port replicator. It must do the conversion itself or tells the Intel chip to output analog because it just plain works!
PROS: - Works
- makes be happy not to have to use the crappy usb vga card/adapter (pro vided by my job) that was slow/jumpy
CONS: - my primary monitor plugs into DP 2, secondary into DP 1 (dell issue, not this product)
