When this is plugged into the USB port are you able to still hear via the audio output on the computer when talking to others via a streaming or video chat platform?
A shopper
on Apr 27, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it won't affect sound output. But initially you might need to go to Control Panel | Sound | Recording and right click the USB mic and make it the default device. Then, also check your WebEx or video conferencing software to check that it is also using that mic and whatever output device you want. Works great for me, and my students say the sound quality is Excellent.

Is there an adapter to connect its USB output cable into a mini recorder’s 3.5 mm (1/8 Inch) external mic input?
H R

BEST ANSWER: You would be better off looking for a microphone with a 3.5mm plug instead. This one has a built-in analog to digital converter to allow you to connect directly to a computer, but a 3.5mm connection is also analog so you don't need that added circuitry with a 3.5mm plug.

This particular microphone is strictly USB. There is a micro USB end on the microphone and no further outputs. This microphone is fully intended to be used with a PC that has a standard USB port. For that job it works extremely well.

I don't think that would work because the mic needs the power from the usb. I think you would need some sort of intermediary box or preamp that powers the mic and converts what I assume is a digital (mic) signal into an analog one.

It looks like this is only for car audio players that can read MP3 files through the 3.5mm AUX port. If you search for it, it says in the description, "This 3.5mm male to USB2.0 female adapter cable is used for car AUX MP3" If you plug this adapter into a regular 3.5mm microphone input, there will be no power to power the microphone or digital/analog converter, so it probably won't work.
I don't see a place to plug in an analog cord.

how tall is this, with the stand, and what taller stand would work with it? Would the Monoprice desktop stand work with it?

BEST ANSWER: 6-1/4" tall. The base has a universal mic stand threaded 5/8"-27 female socket which fits any standard US mic stand ., whether desktop or floor. With the legs fully splayed and the microphone upright it's just under 7 1/2 inches tall. The U-bracket/base connection is sized and threaded the same as a standard mic stand. I took the base off and attached the mic/bracket to a boom stand like the one attached (but a different brand). The desktop stand will work.

What's the best position for this mic? Vertical?
New User U

BEST ANSWER: Speak into the mic from the front. It's not a side address microphone. The front should point at your mouth or slightly below. Keep a sufficient distance (6-8") so you don't create plosives which is air from your mouth popping the mic's diaphram.

I work in a 10'x10' office with my wife. We sit 6' apart, and face the same wall (the desk is one whole wall of the room). We both work from home and need to be on calls at the same time. If we each had one of these mics, how much would this mic pick up the other person?

BEST ANSWER: My wife and I have a similar situation. This mic works well when we are sharing a zoom call on one computer. For the situation you describe, I would suggest a headset mic or a lavalier mic. Something that would be closer to your mouth so that the level could be set lower. Possibly earbuds with a microphone so there is no speaker cross talk with your calls.

A useful, easy to set up, microphone for video meetings
This microphone works well and is pretty cheap, so using it for work video meetings where hearing one another more clearly is important makes sense. The quality of audio is comparable to more expensive mics and equipment layouts (I'm not discernibly harder to understand using it than my AT2020 run through a Behringer audio interface), but the differences probably matter more in things like music or commercial voice recording where coherence isn't the sole priority. Even so, it sounds great and works well for a low price.

So much good for a work from home setup
I bought this since I was tired of being tied to a mic cord all day. I have a good pair of headphones that I wear literally all day, since I listen to music when I am not in a meeting. I had a lavalier mic whose cord I had run up the middle of their cord, but it was always a pain to find a good spot to stow it on the cord or someplace else when it was not needed. I had been eying separate mics and arms so I could easily tuck it away when it was not needed, and this plus the Stage Right by Monoprice Suspension Boom Scissor Broadcast Mic Stand with Integrated Mini USB Cable really fit my needs. I can pull the boom in front of my face for meetings, and push it away when not needed. The cord length on the boom is also long enough that it can reach my workstation from anywhere I would choose to attach it to my desk, so placement was also super easy.
Someone on my team told me, no joke, that it made me sound younger too. For the great price of both I would buy them again if needed.

Simple mike that works
Plug and play into a Windows 10 PC and worked automatically without hiccups. Others online heard me loud and clear. Small footprint allows me to hide it amongst my desktop stuff. Included tripod is sturdy. Good value for money.

Excellent Value for a Laptop Microphone
So far, so good. I provides good sound for meetings on my laptop so it's not a rigorous use, but I'm happy with it. Great value.

Great price to quality ratio
For the average consumer, this mic is incredible for the price. Fantastic for zoom meetings and I even use it for gaming. It's better than my friend's Astro A50 headset mic.

Despite the price, I was hoping that this condenser mic would give me a better idea of how my voice would sound with condenser mics in general. But it made my voice sound like I was calling from an old phone.
I saw good reviews for this mic and thought that it was able to achieve studio-quality recording, but looking again, I think those reviews were just saying that this mic was better than using the one from the laptop....
The mic from the headset that came default with my Samsung smartphone sounds better than this! (Though to be fair, sometimes it's similar.)

High quality low cost desk voice microphone
While I can make no comparison to other microphones, this was a low cost to add a quality microphone to my PC, enabling me to use voice communication.
Pros:
The build is solid. The tripod legs extend into place with a reassuring click and the three rubber feet plant firmly onto any fairly flat surface. The yoke screws into the tripod firmly and the microphone rotates into position in the yoke and is held firmly in place by the bolts.
Testing voice communication in modern applications, i.e. clients with signal processing, I was able to place the device anywhere on my desk in any orientation and be heard perfectly clearly with the position affecting only the in-room acoustics. My voice sounded suitably close when the microphone was at arm's length.
While predominantly a matter of signal processing independent of the microphone, I am able to listen to others on large speakers surrounding my desk while talking to them without any feedback or interference - the ultimate speakerphone.
It looks cool with the green LEDs glowing inside the all-back device.
As with most hardware, it just works when plugged into any a PC running a modern Linux platform, showing as a SR600202 16 bit 48 kHz microphone.
Cons:
Mini USB connector. While a cable is provided, this ancient USB connector limits cable options. The chunky connector plugged in to the microphone limits rotation in the yoke and may affect placement and orientation.
Note that I am using a MiniUSB L adapter and a different cable..
Horizontal rotation. This is barely a con since the microphone is not particularly sensitive to orientation, however the yoke cannot be rotated on the tripod except by loosening the connection.
