BEST ANSWER: I have used many of these to connect macs (mini-display port) to projectors (VGA). It should be what you are looking for. Never tried to use it by connecting the other way.

Yes. I have used these on a number of Macs: MDP on computer to VGA on monitor. No issues.

BEST ANSWER: It worked for my imac, which is from the early 2010s. I believe the mini displayport and thunderbolt port are the same plug. Great for my extra monitor.

One mini to VGA cable and one mini to DVI
Items were as described and delivery was fast. Havent used the 3 VGA cable yet but did use the 6 DVI cable bought at the same time and that one is working great. One note would be to make the tightening screws/holder with a slot for easier tightening access.

Ok for the basics
Works most of the time but the screen cuts out periodically. Works fine for most applications but Premier which is the main reason I purchased it.

Terrific for a budget monitor/projector setup
The plastic doesn't feel like it would stop a truck but does it really need to?

Mini DisplayPort to VGA
It works. While I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, it appears well made.

Works great connecting my iMac to a second VGA monitor
I bought this to extend my desktop to a second screen. I currently have a monitor hooked up using HDMI to a Windows computer but wanted to be able to also connect it to my iMac as a second monitor and simply switch back and forth based on input. It works great and looks fantastic. I run both at native 1920 x 1080. On the iMac I am connecting the DisplayPort end of the cable into the Thunderbolt port and it works perfect!
