will this work with a bass guitar without affecting tone?

BEST ANSWER: Generally a Chorus will not work for a bass guitar, wrong frequency range, a flanger would be a better choice.

Best chorus pedal I've ever had
Best chorus pedal I've ever had and much better than chorus built into my Fender Champion 40 amp. Clean pass-through without noise.

Sturdy pedal to add chorus character to your guitar sound!
The AC-2 analog chorus pedal is a nice pedal for a nice price! My preference is to use the chorus effect sparingly and/or for certain guitar-based songs that were originally popularized with a chorus effect. I also tend to prefer placing the effect in "traditional" recommended order, e.g., before time-based effects (such as reverb or delay) and after amplification effects (such as clean boost or distortion). The latter (clean boost) can help keep noise to a minimum.
A couple of hints: 1. This pedal comes with a 9v battery inside which is a nice bonus. In my experience, using the battery also helps keep unwanted noise away. But be sure to unplug the cables to the jacks after playing or you will likely cause the battery to loose power and then will need to replace it sooner. (I believe this is typical of many guitar pedal designs, so nothing new here with this pedal.) 2. Both knobs at or about the "10 O'clock" position seems to be a good place to start, then adjust as you like.

Nice warm sound but.....
nice chorus pedal, sounds great and easy to use , however, mine makes a "pop" sound when engaged. the foot switch is a true bypass but is not wired in an optimal way. Correcting the switch wiring proved difficult because the switch is soldered directly to the pc card, and the card is double sided. So here is an easy solution to this problem and no more popping. the 2 resistors are 2.2 Meg. I included a photo for the location of the resistors. Works great now!

two 2.2 Meg resistors
