Can this run in the other direction -- DVI on my desktop to a mDP connector on the monitor?
And, how does the maximum resolution compare with making the same connection with an HDMI cable?

Perfect solution to me requirement for longer cable to my monitor.
I have a older mac that has mini-displayport out and one of my monitors has DVI in. I was using a mini-displayport to DVI dongle and a DVI to DVI cable that worked but in an office reconfiguration I needed a longer cable from the computer to the monitor. The Monoprice mini-displayport to DVI 10 cable is the perfect length and I no longer need the dongle. Easy to find to cable on the monoprice website, price was good, arrived in a few days and works as advertised. Great solution to my problem.

Works fine on surface pro 4 dock at 1920x1200 resolution
I got two of these to replace a couple of short length adapters to help with cable clutter when I moved the surface pro 4 dock from a shelf to the desk surface. The surface pro 4 has displayport++ so I didn't expect problems at lower resolutions like 1920x1200. It does work just fine. It may be that higher resolutions would require active adapters.
PROS: Reduced the clutter at the surface pro 4 dock by getting rid of short adapter cables connected to DVI.

Absolutely does the job
Picked up a refurb computer just recently and the video card came with a DVI connector and 2 mini-display ports. Rather than just go the adapter route, I thought it easier just to buy a couple of these mini-display to DVI cables. What can I say about them other than they're no muss, no fuss!
Everything powered up as it should, picture looks great on both monitors, and they're amazingly cheap at that! You won't find any complaints from me.
PROS: Work exactly as advertised.
Amazing price.
CONS: None

Good cable but doesn't work with Surface Pro 4 era dock
I've had these cables for some time. Used them to connect my Surface Pro 3 w/dock to two external monitors. Upgraded to Surface Pro 4 with new dock. After 2 hours with Microsoft Support, I learn they are not "active" cables and will not work with Surface Pro 4 dock.
PROS: Good quality cable
CONS: Doesn't work with Surface Pro 4 Era docking station
