Yes, but keep in mind that this is a 6mm cable. In my studio I use it for mic cables, on stands, The musicians prefer something smaller for instruments, such as Canare Star Quad Microphone Cable (L-4E6S / L-4E5C). You may also find getting a shell over 6mm cable difficult. Note the opening where the cable comes out and be sure to compare the opening size to the cable diameter. I've put Neutrik XLRs on 6mm cable, but you can't put a 6mm cable on a XLR/Cannon male 3 Pin Connector without a lot of cursing, and greasing the cable. The rubber jacket on the connector is too small for the cable.

Short answer: yes. Long answer: it's significantly bulkier than typical instrument cable, and has two conductors plus shield (for "balanced" operation) rather than the typical single conductor plus shield/unbalanced instrument cable. A standard Switchcraft-type 1/4" instrument plug may not fit over the 8mm cable. I use 100'/150' XLR cables made from these for long, balanced runs to powered loudspeakers in business meeting setups I do.

This cable has two conductors inside the shield, where an instrument cable only needs one. In a pinch you could just leave a conductor unused and it would work just fine -- but that would be a less-than-ideal work around... On the other hand, this is very nice mic cable, very tough but also soft, flexible, and tangle resistant.

Yes I re-wired all of my churches microphone lines and instrument lines. Works great and no issues.

Yes but you would only use one of the conductors and the shield.

BEST ANSWER: Yes. This product is only the microphone cable. A male and female connector are required. Depending on the type of connectors used, soldering may be required as well.

Yes. Available at Monoprice as well. That being said, I would not use more than 100 ft for a mic cable using this stuff. Line level is another story.

Yes, this product is just the cable itself. You would also need to purchase and solder connectors for it.

What gauge is it?
A shopper
on Aug 27, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The description says
"This cable features two 21AWG high-purity, oxygen-free copper conductors, a braided copper shield with 97.5% coverage, and a single drain wire. Each conductor is jacketed in color-coded PVC."
That means it is 21 gauge wire.
Thanks

I want to make new cables for my DJ speakers. Would this cable be good for that?
A shopper
on Dec 28, 2020
BEST ANSWER: If your DJ speakers are self-powered (get power from wall outlet), then "Yes". If they draw all their power from an external amp, then "NO". This cable has a twisted pair of "about" 22 AWG wire (they use a metric wire gauge) with a shield.

Microphone cable to the amplifier, to the speakers 14 or 16 gage speaker wire works well

Too thick.
This stuff turned out to be too thick and heavy for the short onstage cables I was planning to make. It's nearly as thick as 14ga speaker cable. It should, however, do well as long-run (100 or 125") main drive cables, which I occasionally need, and currently hook up 2 or 3 50-footers to accomplish.

Pleased
Thick jacket. Just what I wanted. Cable is decent quality.
PROS: Price. Thick jacket. Unwinds and re wraps nicely.
CONS: Not a fan of the wire stranded with string. Nor the braided ground.
Once you cut away the outer jacket, you have to upbraid the ground, cut the string away without getting it tangled in your ground wire, then you can actually start the work of putting a connector on. I am probably spoiled with other more expensive cables though.

Great cable at a great price.
This cable feels beautiful and is great to work with. This is the third or fourth time I've ordered a spool of this and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a high-quality XLR cable that will stand the test of time.

I can recommend this product to anyone that is making their own cables , either 1/4" or XLR .
