Patch cable. A patch cable, patch cord or patch lead is an electrical or optical cable used to connect ("patch in") one electronic or optical device to another for signal routing. Devices of different types (e.g., a switch connected to a computer, or a switch to a router) are connected with patch cords.

Really? Google didn't answer that for you? It comes from the word "Patch Panel". All the Ethernet cable comes into the wiring closet, and is connected to the patch panel. The short Ethernet cables make the connection from the patch panel to your switch.

There are different types of patch cables used for different reasons. Typically, they are used to "patch in" one device to another for signal or power. In this case, this patch cable is used for ethernet.

Upgrade, shorten and color code at the same time
I wanted to do a little upgrade in cable from 5e to 6, shorten some cables and do some color coding all at the same time. They are very well made and function fine. In the photo of my router the right 5 cables are from Monoprice. Yellow to modem, red to server, white and dark blue to Windows PC's and mid blue to Linux PC
Upgrade, shorten and color code all at the same time

Great Product! Less shielding, not choice of colors
I gave only 4 because, the shielding of the cable is not so great compared to my cat 6 cable from monoprice. Also it monoprice is not providing much colors in these cables
