Can the 2 sides be separated for use in mounting say a picture to he the wall?

BEST ANSWER: Can't be used to hang a picture as there is no sticky tape side to adhere to the wall.

No, this is not like Velcro tape, it is a roll of "cut to size" cable wrap.

I want to bind cables together, but also adhere the bound cables to the underside of a desk. Could I put a strip of adhesive hook (or loop) material on the desk surface and have the wrapped cable bundles hang from it?

BEST ANSWER: I’d fasten pieces to underside of desk with small screws. Adhesive probably wouldn’t be great vertically

My solution was to get a 3/4 inch self tapping screw with a washer and drill thru the velcro at the midpoint of a two inch piece i cut off the roll.. put the cable bundle in place and wrap the two ends around the cables and snug it down.. it's work great for me in my computer labs.

Would this work for securing garland to a railing? Is it strong enough Velcro tape?

BRILLIANT
I am soldier and I utlised this it to roll up the loose straps of all my backpacks, rucksacks, duffle-bags, and so on and so forth. I also used it to roll up chords and what-have-you.

2 sided roll
I thought I was buying 5 yds of hook and 5 yds of loop. This roll is 2 sided - has hook on 1 side and loop on the other. This made it 2.5 yards instead of 5yds

Works very well. Minor quibble: the "loop" part is a bit too long for my tastes and only adhered to the "hook" side on the edges so you can't get the ties super super tight like I like them.
Not to dissuade you from buying this; it works just fine!
