Does the top monitor swivel easily without having to unscrew anything? I'm looking for something that I can turn ~90 degrees to show the monitor to someone on the other side of a counter.

BEST ANSWER: For that use this stand would not work at all.
The clamps are all friction based and tightened with screws. There is some adjustment (at most 30 degrees) in the ball joint that attaches to the screen that could be slightly loosened to allow for movement but, even that joint had 3 screws.
HOWEVER
if you have one screen pointed at you and the other pointed at your client than this would would work well enough provided you dont need to re-orient the screens more than once every few weeks.
That said, if you want to move the monitor frequently or over a great distance that I would ether get an arm with a gas spring in it or even better get another monitor.

I set my two monitors at a particular angle for both vertical and horizontal adjustment. In my opinion, changing the angle to view at 90 degrees would require two people...one to loosen the screw, and the other to prevent the monitor from sliding down the vertical pole, and to move it to it's new position. Then, the person that loosened the screw would need to tighten it back again. For this reason, I don't believe that this mount will fit your requirements.

I would say no. The brackets are secured to the pole via two socket head cap screws. So, to loosen them you must use an allen wrench. Once you do the bracket would be free to turn, but it will also slide down the pole - probably not what you want. If you could find a two piece clamping collar to install directly below the bracket, then you could loosen the bracket enough to turn it on the pole without it sliding down - just a thought

No. You need to loosen the screws to the clamp that holds the monitor on the pole. Pure friction keeps the clamp from sliding down the pole as there are no grooves into which the clamps fit. This is good in that you can place the monitor anywhere up and down along the pole, but bad since you have to loosen the clamp in order to change the monitor's position on the stand.

I don't think that would work well. If you loosen the clamp to the pole to where it would swivel it would slide down the pole as well.. If you replaced the screws on the clamp with some wing nuts or thumb screws it would be easy to loosen when needed.

No, in order to turn the monitor 90-degrees, you would need to loosen screws, which would then affect the vertical position on the main pole. This system is designed for fixed positioning of the displays.

If you mount it loosely, yes it will swivel. However that is not recommended. You can mount at a fixed 90 degrees.

I don't see a clamp to secure this to the desktop from underneath - is this just a weighted base? How does this secure to the desktop and not fall forward?
Sid F
on Mar 18, 2023
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't need a clamp, it has a wide base/footprint. I specifically bought this because it does not need a clamp. It is a wide base and the weight of the monitors holds them up with the wide base. I supposed you could use some rubber stick on glides on the bottom to minimized movement, but if you want a clamp, there are many available that will clamp onto the desktop. I had trouble finding on that would support 2 monitors without a clamp and this one works well for that. I use it with a 34" monitor on top and a 27" on the bottom.

It has a wide V shaped base and just sits on top of any surface, similarly to how a typical pc monitor would. It is very sturdy and robust and I have no concerns about mine falling over. Hope this helps.

BEST ANSWER: I have the same stand and set up. The 34” above the 49”. The stand does support both, but I would not call it particularly sturdy. For the money it does it’s job, but the whole stand will sway when typing hard or if you bump the desk. If you don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on an arm from ergo tech or the dual 49” stand from Samsung. This is probably the best option

I don’t think I would try that with this mount. It’s good for up to about 32-34 inches at best. I don’t think the mounts would have enough rotational strength to keep the monitors level and would fatigue too quickly.

This will hold up to 33 pounds of monitor. Is that EACH, or COMBINED? I.e., if I have a 20 pound monitor and a 20 pound monitor, is that too much weight? It currently works very well for 2 24" monitors, but I am eyeballing a 27" that is 11.68 pounds, which should be fine but I wish to make sure I do not go too far.

BEST ANSWER: I don't own this, but keep in mind that ultrawide monitors are not tall. For example, the samsung 49" ultrawide is only 21" tall. Since height is the only thing that matters for this product, don't let people with ultrawide monitors mislead you. Based on my calculations for my 24" 16x9 monitors, that's just about as big as you could go with this stand

Sturdy but fairly light weight - Serves my purpose well.
I purchased this mount to stack monitors for my Digital Color grading suite. After purchasing a 3rd monitor for critical color evaluation, I found there simply wasn't enough lateral space to accommodate the new 27 inch monitor with my other 24 and 25 inch monitors; I had to go up to be able to use all three on my current desk.
The stand was quickly shipped, well packed and arrived with all parts. Assembly was fairly straightforward, if not somewhat fiddily.
I suggest you purchase a small tube of Loctite screw thread locker (or use some fingernail polish in a pinch), back out the main screws that hold the collars that hold the VESA mounts to the pole and lock these screws down TIGHT before attempting assembly or they might loosen up and allow the monitor to swivel horizontally after mounting the monitors.
Also, since the metal parts look as if they are powder coated, the screw holes on some mating surfaces might be a bit difficult to get started, so before you are trying to balance a monitor and start a screw into a mating hole, run these screws in and out of them to clear out any manufacturing over spray in the threaded holes. Makes life easier...
If you are doing this by yourself, as I did, I found the easiest way to mount the bottom monitor to the poles were to attache the VESA mounts to the monitor, stand the monitor on its side, resting on the desktop and then bolt the VESA mount to the collar. You only then have to pivot the monitor to horizontal and then tighten the collar around the stand pipe. The top monitor should be assembled to the VESA plate, attached to the collar, roughly leveled and then lowered over the pole to the correct height. It's tricky but it can be done by one person.
Be prepared to spend some time adjusting and re-adjusting the height, tilt and level of each monitor to get them just right, as they lock in place and are not adjustable when fully tightened. Also, be aware that if one of your monitors has a connection you use that sticks out the back of the monitor at a 90 degree angle in line directly under the VESA mount, you will have trouble tilting the monitor down. My uppermost monitor had such a cable and it took some finessing to get it in place with the stiff video cable sticking out and hitting the support pole, but I was able to make it work.
My only concern now is that I might have a stiff neck from looking up at the top monitor for long periods, but considering my other options (basically none), I'll have to learn how to deal with it...
All in all, I am quite happy with this stand and the price is more than fair.

Very sturdy - Better than a clamp mount
I had used one of these before as a TV stand (single monitor version). I wanted to go to dual computer monitors but over and under, not side to side. The stand works great, except for one issue that might bother some but doesn't bother me. The stand is very adjustable, but once you have the screens positioned where you want them, you have to cinch down on the set screws. It's not a "reach up and adjust the screen any time you feel liked it" stand, but really, how often do you want to do that?

Sturdy, functional, and not hard on the eyes!
The stand is finished in a very lightly textured matte black finish, which looks great on my smoked glass / black steel / anthracite wood desk. While its looks aren't going to wow anyone, they aren't going to offend or look out of place. The finish seems very durable.
I have a 24" curved LCD display on the bottom, and a flat 22" LCD on top, and it feels very solid, no concerns about tipping or anything. Once assembled, it was very easy to get the monitors in the position I wanted them, and a little trial and error with the upper screen tilt has now gotten me to a perfect setup.
When I'm ready to get a fourth monitor, I'll be picking up another one of these!

Works as advertised.
I am not sure why some people complain about the the center pole not being vertical. It tilts toward the back of the base for a reason. It changes the center of gravity more toward the the center of the base plate which makes it more stable.
