How deep is the "C" clamp? In other words how many inches of overhang is required on the desktop for the clamp?
    Paul R on Dec 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The total depth of the C-clamp is 80mm (3.15 inches). For stability's sake, you'll want 3 at least inches of grip, but smaller monitors can get away with a little less without losing the attachment to the desk.

I am extremely skeptical of all mounts for anything heavy be it a TV or a Painting. I ordered this thinking it was going to be junk but it was cheap so its worth the gamble. WOW I hit the jackpot. This mount is incredible quality. extremely sturdy.

I've got a 24" 15lb monitor attached and there is no sag even fully extended. (I am using a block of wood like many others since my desk isn't more than 1" thick)
That being said, this mount will not allow you to rotate the monitor on the mount. you can mount the monitor on its side, but you won't be spinning it. you also won't be tilting it up and down much since those controls take a little too much effort for a daily movement. however pulling it in and out and especially turning it side to side is a breeze and can be done more than daily.

I'm a college student and I use my monitor as my TV/Computer screen. I got this mount to give me more desk space and be able to pull it closer to my bed since the screen isn't the largest TV...

Deceptive advertisement....does NOT rotate from landscape to portrait as one would perceive from description.
Advertisement/description states...quote: "allowing for easy conversion between landscape and portrait mode".
Once the monitor is attached to the mount the ONLY way to get it into portrait position is to physically remove (unbolt/screw) the monitor from the bracket and turn it 90 degrees and then reattach it to the bracket. The description makes people think you simply reach up and turn it "easily". ........NOT SO !!!
My suggestion would be to offer the purchasers of this mount that expects it to "easily convert" a Lazy Susan type adapter that would go between the mount bracket and monitor so that it CAN be EASILY converted (turned).

PROS: Sturdy enough for most applications.

    CONS: False advertisement of product.

What you need to know to get this to work
As everyone has said, you need to cut a 3 inch by4 inch by 1 inch piece of wood to place in the desk clamp. Also, cut out a similar sized piece of rubber (like shelving rubber) or something that will help the clamp grip to the desk. Note that the steel on the clamp will bend after a certain point and tightening the clamp will not help you. The clamp will loosen from your desk if you need to adjust the unit. Do not buy this unit if you plan on swivelling/moving the monitor every day. It will quickly become unclamped from your desk after working it's way loose.

The weight of even the lightest monitor will cause the unit to tilt slightly. It WILL bother you. BUT if you take an old credit card and wedge it under the clamp on the side that you lean to, this will straighten the monitor. I had to fold the card in half to get the right angle. Simple fix and works well.

As stated before, the monitor only tilts down. Perhaps you could put another credit card in the clamp to get some vertical tilt up but I did not.

I did not have a problem with the height adjustment. I adjusted mine 4 inches up and it is not falling.

After these fixes I am happy with my deep-discount monitor mount. Now that I have it set just right, I am happy with it. I do make minor adjustments left and right without problems.

PROS: Pros - with a little bit of rework, you can get this to function properly. Read on for what I had to do to actually get this mount to be acceptable.

CONS: Before I bought this I read the reviews. SHAME on Monoprice for sorting the reviews by rating and not by date. I only read the first page of reviews which were good, but the second page, which I red later, were all awful. Monoprice, you should be ashamed of yourself for this little trick. This is definitely a con by the seller. Sort reviews BY DATE like the egg does.

Warning to Monoprice 28" 4k owners
I've bought several of these arms over the years and I like them. The stability is good enough for daily work and the setup is pretty easy.

I'm disappointed that Monoprice doesn't include hardware that works with their flagship monitor.

PROS: Inexpensive, mostly stable, VESA 50, 75, and 100mm mounting.

CONS: The desk clamp doesn't work on desks or surfaces that are less than about 1.5" thick. You'll need a piece of wood or other hard and solid object.

The included hardware DOES NOT WORK with the Monoprice 28" 4k monitor. The smallest included machine screws are too long and the spacers are the wrong size. You'll need to go to a hardware store and get machine screws that are 0.25" - 0.5" shorter.

    27in Monoprice monitor
    Maybe works with smaller monitors

CONS: Mount didnt support the monoprice 27inch monitor, which is under the 33lb.

    Great Monitor Brackets!
I bought two to mount my two 24" monitors. Very easy to assemble and install. My desk is thick enough for the clamp but adding a shim if yours isn't wouldn't be a big deal. The jam nut on the clamp is a nice touch as it will prevent the clamp from loosening over time. If your mounting surface is too thin, you probably want to find a different soulution as won't provide a secure installation. I didn't have a problem sufficently tightening the wing fasteners but I may just have strong fingers. The supplied bolts and allen wrench provide an option if theses are too difficult. I also didn't experience any problem with tilt regardless of where I position the monitors. If your mounting surface is too flimsy, that may contribute to monitor tilt but that's not the fault on the mount.

PROS: Inexpensive, very functional and well constucted.

    CONS: None.

    I like it!

PROS: Works great! I have a 24" monitor set up on it sideways, "landscape", and it is 4 inches off the desk top and could go a bit higher. Easy to set up...easy to adjust. Easy on the wallet.

    CONS: None so far.

Works perfectly to hold up my AOC 2230Fa monitor. Only minor hitch has been mentioned by others the design of the desktop clamping mechanism is such that if you're planning to mount this to a thin tabletop (3/4" IKEA desktop, in my situation), you'll need to insert a thin piece of wood in the clamp to fully engage the clamp with the tabletop.

PROS: Solid product that holds the monitor steady at a wide variety of angles and heights.

    CONS: n/a

I *should* have trusted the negative reviews for this product before purchasing. I didn't, I trusted Monoprice instead. Boy, so wrong. Like others have railed, this product does NOT support the weight it claims (33lbs???). My Samsung 206BW weighs a bit more than 11lbs and this mount can't hold it at level! It sags and without a 3rd axis to adjust, it leaves the monitor off level.

See image I uploaded here: http://snag.gy/z0m04.jpg

I have to give this product a 1-star to offset the average (4-stars??).

I'm returning this and will get a wall-mount instead.

    PROS: Looks good!
    Easy, straight forward installation

CONS: Products says it supports up to 33LBS it's a LIE!!
Need to insert spacers since clamp doesn't close tightly enough

    These things are sweet.
Due to the furniture style in my office I knew it would take a while to get these installed. I could imagine someone with a normal desk installing these in a few minutes. Once I got these on the desk and mounted the monitors, I knew I had made the right choice in buying them. The monitors I've mounted are on the larger end of the spectrum for these mounts and, as a result, they droop. I had to tighten the heck out of the screws in order to get the monitors to stay the way I wanted them ... the plastic "wings" are a bit on the weak side, I guess. Other than that, though, they're great!

PROS: More storage space monitors aren't sitting on the desk anymore. These things are inexpensive and they do the job decently enough.

CONS: They droop a little, and the screws are weaksauce.
