What gage do I need for a single cut coffee maker?
James T
on May 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: A single-cup coffee maker consumes about 600 to 900 watts. You need an extension cord that can handle 8-9 amps (8A). The gage of the wire determines the distance that a certain level of current can flow through the cord: a thicker wire (lower gage) can carry the same current a longer distance. You should pay more attention to the current rating for the wire than the gage. So, pick the length of cord that you need, then pick the gage so that it carries your required 8A. These 13A cords exceed your needs by far.

That depends on your coffee maker. This extension cord is rated at 13 amps. All appliances have a label plate showing voltage and amperage requirements. Any device rated 13 amps (marked a. or @) or less will be OK.

Check your coffee maker to see what the amperage is - if 13 amps or less, you're OK.
In any event it will not be more than 15 amps because that's the capacity of a standard household electrical circuit.

I have no idea. All I can offer is that we needed just a little more electric cord to reach the closest plug and the cord I ordered has worked perfectly.

15-amps require a 14-gauge cord. This is a 16 gauge for about 10-amps.

I need a 2 ft. cord for my electric heater that's rated 120 VAC, 12.5 Amps, 1500 watts. What do you recommend?
A shopper
on Feb 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A 2 ft. 16 AWG cord is rated for 13 amps and should probably be adequate, but when in use will probably feel warn to touch. I personally would use a 14 AWG cord which would be rated at 15 amps. The cost difference between a 16 AWG cord and a 14 AWG is too insignificant to be of concern.

Exactly what I needed
I had two garage doors openers installed in my new garage but the ceiling was just a little too high for the cords. These two foot cords were the perfect solution to reaching the outlet in the ceiling.

Great for Organizing Cords and Power Strips
We have a couple power strips with large block plugs. These allow us to use each outlet, rather than have them blocked.

Quality extension cords
I love these short extension cords. I can't tell you how many times I have needed some extra length to reach an outlet. I bought 1ft, 2ft, and 3ft lengths. They really come in handy. And I love Monoprice's quality products.

Good quality extension cord
This is a good quality extension cord, which I use to turn a 6-foot monitor power cord into an 8-foot power cord when I need a little extra length to reach the power outlet in a cubicle.

Great Short Jumper
These are a great short extension to supplement the modern (stupid) short power cords on many kitchen appliances. I use these as short extensions on 500w theatre lights. Much cheaper than you can make yourself.
