Will this drive a projector from a MacBook Air using a 25 ft hdmi cable? Or do I need an active adapter?

BEST ANSWER: It should. I am not familiar with whatever projector you have but I run mine from the adapter (from my mac) into a Samsung monitor. It works seamlessly. Hope that helps!

You should be fine with that - I use longer HDMI cables that are passive without any problems.

Makes use of the mini DVI port
This adapter works perfectly. It enabled me to utilize the mini DVI port on my laptop for an additional monitor
and that meant freeing up a USB port for other uses.

This replaces a $30 Apple mini-DVI::DVi cable + a $15 DVI::HDMI cable. Not much to say about the cable itself: video goes in, video comes out, it works.
It would be nice to have an audio jack to convert audio + DVI --> HDMI with inline audio. But that is a different and more complex task, and this product is not at fault for lacking it.
