You can't tell the difference in quality between a Cat6 run and a HDMI cable. This extender makes it easier to run a cable in a tight space where a HDMI end connector would not fit because of its' size. With the IR extender built in I can use my cable box in another area over 100' away saving money in having to rent a second cable box from my cable provider.
