This is a stereo cable. Tip, Ring, Sleeve. I believe the tip and the ring are the single ended stereo channels and the sleeve is the ground. They are not twisted pairs.
Monoprice Premier series 1/4 in Male to Malecable, 16AWG
Excellent audio cable, durable, reliable. NOT # 16 Gauge wire. Needed to cut a cable to make 2 shorter ones. T-Stripper indicated that wires were 20 GA. NOT suitable for speaker use.
I'm big supporter of Monoprice products, especially cables. My studio mostly runs on Monoprice optics, MIDI, audio cables. Since my first purchase over 6 years ago I keep buying them. Sure failures happens, but that's totally expected even for more expensive brands. However, what I found recently is a bad sign. I got a bulk of TRS cables (as usual), same exact P/N as I was using before. Unfortunately, I found that Monoprice has changed a cable vendor. Connectors are the same as before. More importantly, connectors are no longer sealed with a glue inside. That's very bad move. Sealed connectors was a great advantage for better reliability. Not it's gone. Not sure if the quality of the cable has changed. I would not say so. With adopted changes, that's a bad sign on cost saving and doesn't deserve more than 2-star feedback. Be warned.
I have replaced most of my studios wiring with mono.s 16AWG cables 48/ 3f cables connecting pre amps to compressors to interfaces ,also 4 / 6f for a couple of speakers ,and a couple of 15/ 16AWG footers for general use instruments (key's , guitars) my main cable goin to the amp is a Mogami ,i can hear the difference in the top end between the 16AWG to the Mogami( $ 55 10f/ 26 AWG .cable). Im not sure if its better ,i'm just used to the sound . .
Love this cable! Why better the the spaghetti size cable I was using!
Very nice cable! Thick, flexible, high-quality cable, excellent connectors, will be using for an effects expression pedal. The price is so low it's amazing!
I replaced 1/4 TRS cables with molded plugs between my Focusrite audio interface and powered monitors. The quality of the Monoprice cables appears to be very good, especially for the price. I may have noticed that the highs were a bit better than it was with the molded plug cables. Noise levels were about the same (negligible). The main thing I like is that I was able to purchase the Monoprice cables in lengths that were more appropriate for my set up (1.5 and 3 foot) instead of the previous 5 foot cables for a much cleaner setup. It doesnt hurt that the cables were less than $5 apiece.
These cables are made with good heavy cabling and gold-plated connectors. They are very reasonably priced, so I keep an extra 4 or 5 in my kit at all times. Monoprice is hard to beat!
